About Radiant

Radiant is an El Segundo, CA-based startup building the world’s first mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors. The company’s first reactor, Kaleidos, is a 1-megawatt, fail-safe microreactor that can be transported anywhere power is needed and run for up to 5 years without refueling. Portable nuclear power with rapid-deploy capability can replace similar-sized diesel generators and provide critical asset support for hospitals, data centers, remote sites, and military bases. Radiant’s unique, practical approach to nuclear development leverages modern software engineering to rapidly deliver safe, factory-built microreactors that use existing, well-qualified materials. Founded in 2020, Radiant is on track to test its first reactor at the Idaho National Laboratory this summer, with initial customer deliveries beginning in 2028.

About the Role

Radiant is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the design, build, and maintenance of Radiant's electrical test infrastructure for Kaleidos, Radiant's commercial microreactor unit targeted for deployment in 2028. You will work closely with senior engineers to develop and expand test infrastructure, including HIL systems and other electrical test platforms, that validate critical systems. This role is ideal for a versatile electrical engineer with hands-on experience in test infrastructure who is ready to take on increasing ownership across electrical integration, validation strategy, and test environment development. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the electrical test infrastructure supporting the first high-temperature gas-cooled portable microreactor ever to be commercialized.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Design, build, and maintain electrical test infrastructure, including test benches and other test platforms as the program evolves.

  • Support the definition of electrical and software integration requirements spanning power distribution, signal conditioning, sensor mapping, actuator interfaces, and device simulation.

  • Support communication and integration between hardware, control systems, and software interfaces.

  • Contribute to the electrical validation strategy; develop and execute test procedures and methodologies.

  • Assemble, debug, and troubleshoot electrical test hardware and harnesses.

  • Execute test procedures, collect data, and support analysis across multiple test environments.

  • Optimize test and validation processes and contribute to improvements in tooling and automation.

  • Participate in design reviews and communicate technical findings to cross-functional stakeholders.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in electrical engineering, including hardware design, integration, and test.

  • Experience building or maintaining electrical test infrastructure.

  • Familiarity with DAQ and test platforms such as dSpace, NI PXI, Speedgoat, or similar.

  • Hands-on experience with data acquisition, test execution, and validation frameworks.

  • Strong electrical and software debugging and troubleshooting skills.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with real-time simulation systems and FPGA-based hardware.

  • Understanding of control fundamentals and software testing processes.

  • Familiarity with trace capture tools or data acquisition and analysis tools.

  • Background in high-reliability, safety-critical, or regulated industry environments (aerospace, defense, nuclear, medical, or automotive).

  • Comfortable working across multiple test environments and adapting to new test infrastructure as program needs evolve.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as necessary to accomplish our mission.

  • Must work 100% onsite at El Segundo HQ.

Benefits and Perks

  • Stock: Substantial incentive stock plan for all full-time employees.

  • Medical: 100% up to base silver level plan for employee + 50% dependents, offers up to Platinum plans.

  • One Medical: Sponsored memberships for employees and their dependents.

  • Vision: 100% top tier plan coverage + 50% for dependents.

  • Dental: 100% top tier plan coverage, orthodontia extra, 50% for dependents.

  • Voluntary life, accident, hospital, critical illness, commuter and FSA/HSA are offered as employee contributed benefits.

  • 8-weeks of paid parental leave for all parents. Additional paid pregnancy leave for CA employees.

  • Daily catered lunch. Free snacks and drinks.

  • Flexible PTO policy. Remote workday allocation.

  • Company and team-bonding events, happy hours and in-person camaraderie.

  • Beautiful El Segundo headquarters close to the Pacific Ocean.
