Rainmaker is pioneering a modern cloud seeding system to solve water scarcity and inclement weather problems. We develop and incorporate radar validation, weather-resistant UAS, numerical weather modeling, and sustainable cloud seeds into an effective precipitation enhancement solution.

The Engineering team at Rainmaker works on our UAS, dispersion payload, and in-situ/remote sensing systems. If you are interested in working in an extremely innovative and fast paced environment, where your work directly makes an impact and difference in our operational system, this is a fantastic opportunity.

As a flight test engineer at Rainmaker, you will be responsible for the execution of our flight test program. We want our engineers to have autonomy and own the outcomes of their work.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Independently plan, execute, and report on flight tests for our cloud-seeding UAS systems, ensuring they meet performance and safety requirements
  • Collect and analyze test data related to cloud seeding efficacy, weather patterns, and UAS performance
  • Collaborate with our meteorology and engineering teams to refine our seeding strategies and optimize our UAS designs based on test results and observations
  • Coordinate and conduct flight tests at various test ranges, ensuring compliance with airspace regulations and weather modification permits
  • Perform system-level testing and evaluation of our cloud-seeding payloads, weather monitoring instruments, and UAS hardware/software
  • Serve as the primary test engineer during cloud seeding missions, overseeing ground and flight operations
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols and weather modification best practices throughout the testing process

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • UAS Part 107 Certificate
  • Willingness to travel frequently to test sites and field operations
  • Thorough understanding of the National Airspace System and UAS regulations.
  • Must have a complete understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems
  • Solid grasp of atmospheric science concepts, principles, and theories, with the ability to apply them to practical testing scenarios
  • Proficient in data analysis, test documentation, and reporting; comfortable working with meteorological and UAV-specific software
  • Self-motivated and able to work autonomously while also being a strong team player in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate extended hours and on-call assignments during active cloud seeding periods
