About Recharged
Recharged is on a mission to simplify the electric vehicle ownership experience with the first marketplace designed specifically for used EV buyers and sellers. We've combined our EV expertise with a data-driven, transparent platform that helps accelerate EV adoption by giving consumers the clarity and confidence they need. We're building the purpose-built platform for the future of EV retail.
About The Role
We're hiring our first dedicated finance hire to own strategic finance and FP&A across the business: the financial model, board and investor materials, budgets, cash flow forecasting, lender reporting, and the analysis behind nearly every major operating decision. This role takes ownership of all of it and builds the FP&A function as the company scales.
Recharged acquires inventory through a number of different partners and channels, reconditions vehicles in-house, and retails them through Recharged.com and our Experience Centers. That means real unit economics with many moving parts: vehicle acquisition, reconditioning, transport, days to sale, gross profit per unit and its composition, and product/financing attachment rates. The person in this seat will develop a ruthless command of those economics and use it to drive decisions across sales, inventory sourcing, reconditioning, hiring, and product.
This is not a pure accounting role, but it is not finance in a vacuum either. The quality of our FP&A depends on the quality of the underlying data flowing through our systems. You'll work alongside our accounting partners, including external partners, and our operations and engineering teams to make sure the financial data foundation is accurate, processes are efficient, and the numbers we make decisions on can be trusted.
Position Overview
Our ideal candidate is analytical first and foremost: incredibly talented, data-driven, and a fast learner who can come in, absorb how a complex operational business actually works, and start producing insight quickly. You're as comfortable building a five-year model for a board meeting as you are digging into why reconditioning costs per unit moved last month. You sweat the details on data integrity because you know decision-making is only as good as the data underneath it, and you find genuine satisfaction in that rigor.
This role works across every team in the company, from sales and reconditioning leadership to accounting, engine, and capital partners.
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience in investment banking, management consulting, private equity, or strategic finance / FP&A at a high-growth operating company (5+ years)
- Exceptional financial modeling skills and fluency working with large, messy datasets. Comfort with SQL and BI tools is a strong plus
- A working understanding of accounting. You don't need to be a CPA, but you should be fluent in the three financial statements, understand core accrual accounting and GAAP concepts, and be able to partner credibly with accountants on month-end close, reconciliations, and data issues
- A rigid and ruthless command of unit economics. Experience in businesses where per-unit margins drive everything – such as automotive retail, consumer products, ecommerce, or other inventory-based models, is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated comfort leveraging AI tools to accelerate analysis, modeling, and day-to-day work, with the judgment to validate the output
- Strong written and verbal communication. You can turn analysis into a clear narrative for a board deck, VC investors, lenders, or a sales manager
- High agency and comfort with ambiguity. You'll be building the finance playbook here
Key Responsibilities
- Own the financial model and planning. Own our operating model end to end: revenue, unit volumes, gross profit per unit, opex, headcount, and cash. Build and manage budgets, run scenario planning, and keep forecasts honest against actuals.
- Build FP&A from scratch. Stand up the reporting cadence, dashboards, and unit economics analyses the business runs on, down to the vehicle level. Define the metrics that matter and make them visible to the teams that can move them.
- Drive data-driven operating decisions. Be the analytical partner behind decisions across the business. Develop the operating model for our in-house reconditioning process, throughput, capacity, cycle time, and cost per unit, so finance and operations are tightly coupled and the numbers directly inform staffing and capacity decisions. Own the economics of inventory acquisition: what we pay, where we buy, and how those decisions flow through to margin, days to sale, and sell-through. Beyond that, bring the same rigor to where hiring is justified by the economics, biggest gross margin expansion opportunity, and how pricing and channel mix affect profitability.
- Own cash flow and working capital. Build and maintain our cash flow forecast and manage liquidity across the business. In an inventory business, working capital is everything: track how capital deployed into vehicles converts back to cash, monitor inventory turns and aging, and ensure we always have a clear, current view of our cash position and runway.
- Own board and investor materials. Prepare board decks, investor updates, and the financial sections of fundraising materials. Translate the numbers into the narrative. We will be raising subsequent rounds of funding, where an FP&A backbone becomes more critical.
- Support lender reporting and capital management. Own the reporting rhythm on our asset-backed credit facility, including borrowing base reporting, covenant tracking, and weekly/monthly/quarterly lender deliverables. Support future capital raises on both the equity and debt side.
- Strengthen the financial data foundation. Work alongside our accounting partners, including external partners, to support the month-end close, run variance analysis against budget, and ensure clean, accurate, timely financial data. Work across teams on the integrations between our dealer management, reconditioning, and accounting systems so the data underneath every analysis can be trusted. Roll up your sleeves on cleanup when it's needed.
An Ideal Candidate Has
- Genuine curiosity about complex, operational businesses. You find the economics of sourcing, reconditioning, and retailing a used EV fascinating, and you want to be the person who understands them better than anyone
- Experience working with or inside inventory-based or consumer businesses where unit economics are the whole game. Automotive experience is a plus.
- Exposure to asset-backed lending, borrowing bases, or other structured credit facilities
- Familiarity with the systems side of finance: accounting software, DMSs, ERPs, CRMs, and the integrations between them
- An AI-native working style. You reach for modern tools by default and are excited to build finance workflows the way a company starting today should
- A bias toward rigor over polish. You'd rather chase down why two numbers don't tie than present a clean-looking deck built on shaky data
- Interest in electric vehicles or building in the physical world
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: Competitive base salary $150,000-$200,000, dependent on experience
