Fire Protection Engineer
Redwood Materials is currently seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join our Infrastructure Development team. These roles are at the center of our activities focused on creating a sustainable circular economy for lithium-ion batteries by transforming recycled materials into battery materials for new lithium-ion battery production.
Responsibilities will include:
- Develop & create complete set of code / life safety permit documents for various site projects
- Develop & create fire protection reports for new production lines / materials / suppression / detection systems coming to the factory.
- Develop and summit AM&M (Alternate Means & Methods) to help with performance-based design criteria to meet intent of code
- Code Planning / Life Safety design (Schematic design through commissioning)
- Develop process improvements / workflows / templates to increase design productivity and quality of deliverables
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Protection, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
- Experience in design engineering of suppression system (wet-pipe, dry-pipe, deluge, foam, clean agent), fire alarm/mass notification system, smoke control system, fire pumps, water storage tanks
- Experience with life safety requirements, building code analysis, passive fire protection systems
- Working knowledge of relevant NFPA standards including but not limited to NFPA 1, 13, 20, 70, 72, 75, 76, and 90A, and 101
- Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation, and Revit/Revit MEP

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
