Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 to create a circular supply chain for electric vehicles and clean energy products, making them more sustainable and driving down the cost for batteries. We’re doing this by developing and deploying new technologies to increase the scope and scale of recycled and sustainable materials in the global battery supply chain.

Manager, People Operations

As a Manager, People Operations, you will be a key member of our People team, responsible for enabling the People team through program management, process design and systems management while supporting compliance with state and federal legislation. You will collaborate with stakeholders on the People Team, Finance and IT and our vendor partners. You will manage a team to deliver on the operational objectives of the team and support on-going improvement.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Lead our People Operations team including:
    • Establishing goals and priorities for People Operations Team that will enable the People Team and the company to achieve its goals.
    • Partner and engage with Recruiting, People Business Partners, Finance, Legal and other cross-functional stakeholders to get feedback, gain buy in and develop solutions for Redwood Materials.
    • Manage a team of specialists and coordinators to deliver people operations processes, programs, and goals. Establish goals and direction for the team and assign tasks and responsibilities. Manage performance, deliver feedback, and develop team members.
  • Management, design, development and delivery of critical people operations processes
    • Successfully deliver existing people programs such as onboarding, off boarding and more. Identify opportunities and implement changes to increase efficiency and improve employee experience of the program.
    • Develop solutions and programs for the People Team. Identify challenges, clarify objectives, develop solutions, create project plans and supporting collateral (e.g. trainings, guides).
    • Identify and collaborate with stakeholders to get feedback and buy in for new programs.
  • Delivery of critical people operations processes throughout the employee lifecycle:
    • Develop process to ensure the efficient management of transactions across multiple systems, teams, and programs. Identify & implement opportunities for automation & integrations in partnership with People Systems Analyst.
    • Responsible for the management of employee data and associated documentation. Develop processes and procedures to ensure efficient, accurate and compliant transitions as well as appropriate documentation.
    • Identify & standardize documentation for events throughout the employee lifecycle (e.g. offer letters, job change letters) to ensure clarity and compliance. Support the creation of documentation as needed.
  • Identify compliance issues and create/implement processes and policies to mitigate risk. Ensure compliance with US federal, state, and local labor laws through proactive auditing, monitoring changes in regulations, and designing scalable processes for continuous compliance. Prepare and submit annual regulatory reports such as EEO-1 filing

Desired Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR and/or Recruiting, preferably in a start-up or high-growth environment, preferably experience with HR/Recruiting Operations.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Knowledge of HR Programs and systems as well as familiarity with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Proficient with excel and HR/TA systems.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic thinker with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation in benefits programs.

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
