Operations Manager, CAM
The Operations Manager is a manufacturing leadership role at Redwood Materials. Specifically, this individual will manage a 20-individual operations team associated with the CAM1 pilot plant - a novel cathode manufacturing facility with multiple sub-processes and equipment types.
In addition to people management, the Operations Manager is accountable for helping create campaign schedules and ensuring timelines are met in a safe and efficient manner. CAM1 operations is a blend of executing experimental plans (i.e. campaigns) and assisting with the install and commissioning of new equipment and processes.
The operations team works closely with the respective engineering and maintenance teams associated with CAM1. The Operations Manager acts as the main liaison that helps coordinate the needs of all parties. As a result, a successful production manager is one that has strong communication, organizational and technical skills.
Responsibilities will include:
- Leading safety and continuous improvement. Expected to develop the culture and maintain a high standard for the CAM1 operations team.
- Managing plant operations to support quality and production requirements.
- Oversee and improve organizational processes and policies to improve safety, quality and productivity.
- Build an enjoyable company culture which motivates employees to perform at their best through positive encouragement and consistent feedback.
- Mentor, evaluate and develop supervisors through regular one-on-ones.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team to ensure production requirements are achieved.
- Set clear goals and expectations for Supervisors and Leads. Measure performance, provide feedback, and hold leaders accountable.
- Work closely with support staff (HR, Finance, Safety, Ops Integration and other leaders) to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives.
- Conduct performance evaluations for employment decisions to include promotions, salary adjustments and terminations.
Desired Qualifications
- 3-5 years of manufacturing management experience of multi-shift teams in the chemical, pharmaceutical, mining or refining industries
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering strongly preferred
- Hands on mechanical and LOTO aptitude/know-how is strongly preferred
- Has strong experience showcasing ability to handle changing priorities and apply good judgment in stressful situations
- Demonstrated ability to successfully navigate the staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions and terminations.
- Experience with performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean methodologies
- Strong and demonstrated effective verbal, written and listening skills.
- Ability to analyze, create and effectively communicate analyses with all levels of employees, management, suppliers and customers
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office - Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Should be able to work in environments with variable noise levels, lighting conditions and temperature

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
- Ability to complete a respiratory fit test and respiratory medical evaluation
- Ability to work with Tyvek suits, Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR), and other personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time (up to a full shift)
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to communicate and listen clearly on telephone/radio
Working Conditions:
- Environment: office, machine shop, chemical plant, analytical laboratory
- Exposures encountered: hazardous materials, electrical hazards
- Essential physical requirements: working hands-on in a research lab setting
- Travel required as needed, less than 10%
The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
