Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 to create a circular supply chain for electric vehicles and clean energy products, making them more sustainable and driving down the cost for batteries. We’re doing this by developing and deploying new technologies to increase the scope and scale of recycled and sustainable materials in the global battery supply chain.

Program Manager, Dangerous Goods Compliance

Redwood Materials is seeking a Program Manager, Dangerous Goods Compliance. This person will report into the Integrated Supply Chain Team and will lead our Dangerous Goods Compliance program. You will be responsible for providing expert guidance to the organization on the proper processes, procedures, and documentation for the shipping, handling, and storage of dangerous goods and hazardous materials to ensure compliance.

Responsibilities will Include:

  • Develop and implement global dangerous goods transportation policies, procedures, and compliance programs aligned with 49 CFR, IATA, IMDG, ADR, and other relevant regulations.
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments to ensure regulatory adherence.
  • Collaborate with global regulatory bodies (DOT, PHMSA, FAA, UNECE, IMO) to influence and comply with industry best practices.
  • Oversee the safe and compliant transportation of batteries and regulated materials, minimizing environmental and operational risks.
  • Support logistics and supply chain teams in packaging, labeling, marking, and documentation compliance for all shipping modes.
  • Provide technical guidance on handling, storage, and emergency response protocols related to dangerous goods.
  • Lead key initiatives and programs that improve global compliance and operational efficiency in dangerous goods transportation.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, safety, legal, supply chain, and logistics to integrate compliance within operational workflows.
  • Develop and deliver targeted training programs (in-person and web-based) for employees, suppliers, and third-party logistics providers.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or industrial engineering preferred.
  • Expertise in Lithium-Ion and Lithium Metal battery transportation regulations in the U.S. and internationally.
  • Global dangerous goods transportation policies, procedures, and compliance experience required.
  • Ability to implement programs and drive results.
  • A passion for sustainability and making the world a better place!

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
