Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 to create a circular supply chain for electric vehicles and clean energy products, making them more sustainable and driving down the cost for batteries. We’re doing this by developing and deploying new technologies to increase the scope and scale of recycled and sustainable materials in the global battery supply chain.

Manager, Industrial Engineering

Redwood Materials is seeking an entrepreneurial Industrial Engineer Leader to support commercial scale production and process optimization. This leader will be responsible for leading continuous improvement projects across multiple manufacturing lines and business processes at our Tahoe Battery Materials Campus. Leveling for this role will be based on experience and demonstration of excellence.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and mentor a team of industrial engineers to achieve operational goals.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize manufacturing processes and improve efficiency.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of new processes and systems.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Prepare and present reports on team performance and process improvements.

Desired qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering discipline (mechanical, industrial, systems, etc).
  • 5+ years of industrial or manufacturing engineering experience: demonstrated capability and successful implementation of improvement projects.
  • 2+ years directly leading engineering teams in fast paced environments.
  • Prior experience developing business cases (examples: automation, operating plan changes, equipment selection, etc).
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
  • Background in operations research (examples: linear programming, discrete event simulation, etc). Proficiency is a plus.
  • Prior experience with industrial scale processes and equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with an analytical and structured approach to problem solving.
  • Experience with statistical data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Software proficiencies: Microsoft Office, 2D CAD, any linear programming software, discrete event simulation software.

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
