Senior O&M Support and Strategy Manager, Energy Storage
Redwood Materials
About Redwood Materials
Redwood is localizing a global battery supply chain that seamlessly integrates recovery, reuse, and recycling — keeping critical minerals in circulation and driving the energy transition. Founded in 2017, we’re delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have.
Senior O&M Support and Strategy Manager, Energy Storage
Redwood Materials is looking for motivated and talented Senior O&M Support and Strategy Manager to serve as the critical bridge between leadership and operations, balancing big-picture energy storage strategy with granular system details (diagnostics, remanufacturing operations, service throughput) to enable clear communication and rapid decision-making.
Responsibilities Will Include:
- Lead cross-functional programs: Drive end-to-end execution of O&M and remanufacturing initiatives for BESS assets, coordinating engineering, field operations, supply chain, and customer teams to deliver reliable, cost-effective lifecycle support.
- Ensure global obligations are met: Implement compliant processes and software tools to meet regulatory, safety, warranty, and performance standards across all BESS deployments and remanufacturing operations.
- Align objectives and stakeholders: Build consensus among leadership, operations, customers, and vendors; translate strategic energy storage goals into prioritized roadmaps and resolve cross-team conflicts.
- Provide strategic system guidance to optimize BESS performance, remanufacturing operations, and field service efficiency across hardware, software, and data subsystems.
- Triage and resolve issues in real-time field operations, diagnostic workflows, or remanufacturing processes to minimize downtime and asset loss.
- Define system requirements for new diagnostics, software upgrades, or remanufacturing workflows in collaboration with R&D and IT.
- Lead change management, including risk assessments, validation testing, training, and phased rollouts of process/software updates.
Desired Qualifications:
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in technical program management, O&M, or field service leadership within BESS, energy storage, or related industrial systems.
- Proven background managing O&M and Field Service programs for BESS or high-throughput energy systems.
- Direct experience supporting battery/BESS remanufacturing operations, including cell grading, pack rebuilds, quality control, yield optimization, and end-of-life processing.
- Hands-on experience supporting BESS systems and deployments, including technical campaigns, performance tuning, and field upgrades.
- Demonstrated expertise in solar and energy infrastructure, with a track record of successful field service technical campaigns involving battery lifecycle management.
- Proven ability to support cross-functionally across engineering, business development, logistics, finance, spares, operations, EHS, quality, and training teams.
- Strong project coordination skills, both in-house (cross-functional engineering sprints) and customer-facing (deployment reporting, regulatory submissions, SLA management).
- Ability to support remote jobsites, construction sites, and BESS field operations — including on-site troubleshooting, commissioning support, and coordination with field technicians.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
- 2+ years in technical program management within hardware/software integration or industrial automation; or 5+ years in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering for such products.
- Experience with data processing, diagnostics, or industrial automation strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with program management tools and methodologies (e.g., Jira, roadmapping, risk tracking, and collaboration platforms).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform essential job functions safely and successfully consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Maintain regular, punctual attendance.
Working Conditions
- General office and light manufacturing environment (PPE provided as needed).
- Approximately 25% travel required (domestic and international).
- Occasional weekends, nights, or on-call support.
The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
