Team:
The Factory Test team is responsible for providing a set of common test capabilities to all departments in the factory. These include the design and build of test equipment, administering our data collection system, reviewing designs and standards, and conducting hazardous test operations. Some examples of the tests we conduct include static load testing, dynamic mechanism testing, cryogenic flow testing, and high-pressure pneumatic testing. As a part of the Data and Control System (DACS) group, this role will focus on the electrical hardware and automation supporting test operations across our rocket factory.
What you’ll do:
The Data and Controls Hardware Engineer is primarily focused on the design and build of new data acquisition hardware. You will be responsible for the hardware from initial design through build and activation. A significant amount of your time will be spent away from your desk, supporting the install and troubleshooting of systems on our various test stands. Some project examples include:
- Design advanced control and data acquisition systems for various test stands, including panel layouts, power and load analysis, fabrication drawings, and instrumentation lists.
- Solve a wide range of technical challenges, across broad ranges of timeframe, complexity, cost, and long-term impact.
- Support test operations and perform related improvements to existing test stands.
- Select, integrate, and configure instrumentation on a test stand.
- Checkout and tune control systems for hydraulic actuators that will test Terran R components.
What you need to know:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- Strong electrical engineering fundamental knowledge.
- Ability to use signal generators, oscilloscopes, and other test equipment to test and verify hardware designs.
- Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and success in delivering complex products with multiple stakeholders
Nice to haves but not required:
- No previous aerospace experience is required for this position.
- Experience specifying, selecting, and integrating sensors and actuators such as pressure transducers,
- RTDs, strain gages, thermocouples, solenoid valves, accelerometers, microphones, etc.
- Familiar with using technology such as, AC-DC Power Supplies, PLCs, VFDs.
- Familiar with designing electrical control cabinets and wiring harnesses.
- Comfortable using schematic capture and PCB design tools such as Altium or AutoCAD.
