Team:
Relativity seeks 3D Printing Technicians to support our large-scale WAAM (Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing) printers on our Stargate Operations team. The Stargate Operations team is a diverse team with 3D print technicians, weld technicians, robotic specialists, and engineering that work together to 3D print hardware to support the Terran R vehicle. These individual’s primary responsibility will be to run and monitor the world’s largest 3D printers. There are open positions for 1st shift (6 AM – 2:30 PM), 2nd shift (2:00 PM – 10:30 PM), and 3rd shift (10:00 PM – 6:30 AM) with occasional, scheduled overtime which will include weekends. This position is a 6 month contractor position with potential for full time hire.
What you’ll do:
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Set up our 3D WAAM printers to prepare for welding which includes swapping weld consumables and changing spools of wire
- Support the 3D printing operations which will include monitoring the WAAM process and setting up machining processes.
- Operate our robotics following cell safety protocols
- Taking measurements using calipers and inputting that data into a database
- Complete periodic maintenance of our robotic and welding equipment
- Work in a safety conscious manner and maintain cell cleanliness
- Follow our SOPs and provide feedback on ways to improve our documentation
- General fabrication work which can include grinding, filing, and cutting
- Foster a culture that leads to open communication and teamwork
What you need to know:
- 1+ year experience in a manufacturing environment OR applicable trade school degree (welding, A&P mechanic, etc)
- Ability to work safely and effectively communicate with co-workers
- Demonstrate proficiency in teamwork and a strong work ethic
- General computer skills to be able to follow work instructions and to input data into our manufacturing systems/Microsoft Excel
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment, communicate clearly, and have a strong work ethic
- Be able to maintain and clean and organized work area
- Passionate about welding, robotics, and/or aerospace
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift/push/drag 50 lbs of weight.
- Must be able to hold a power tool for at least 1 hr at a time.
- Capable of spending a full shift monitoring multiple prints, staying alert and active the entire time.
- Must be comfortable with wearing a power air purifying respirator. Need to pass medical evaluation by nurse.
- Need to be able to work from heights above 20 feet for extended durations (1+ hrs).
- Technician should be comfortable entering a print cell during the printing process wearing full welding PPE.
- Need to be comfortable inside confined spaces for at least 1 hr for confined space operations
Nice to have but not required:
- Passionate about welding, robotics, and/or aerospace
- Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment with a focus in welding, robotics, or CNC machining
- Experience with build and fabrication methods (cutting, grinding, torque wrenches, welding, etc)
- Experience with robotics/software
- Ability to perform basic shop mathematical skills such as fractional math and trigonometry
- Ability to meet deadlines and have a “whatever it takes” attitude to complete assignments
- Practical mechanical knowledge
