At Relativity Space, we’re building rockets to serve today’s needs and tomorrow’s breakthroughs. Our Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting the growing demand for launch capacity. But that’s just the start. Achieving commercial success with Terran R will unlock new opportunities to advance science, exploration, and innovation, pioneering progress that reaches beyond the known.

Joining Relativity means becoming part of something where autonomy, ownership, and impact exist at every level. Here, you're not just executing tasks; you're solving problems that haven’t been solved before, helping develop a rocket, a factory, and a business from the ground up. Whether you’re in propulsion, manufacturing, software, avionics, or a corporate function, you’ll collaborate across teams, shape decisions, and see your work come to life in record time. Relativity is a place where creativity and technical rigor go hand in hand, and your voice will help define the stories we’re writing together. Now is a unique moment in time where it’s early enough to leave your mark on the product, the process, and the culture, but far enough along that Terran R is tangible and picking up momentum. The most meaningful work of your career is waiting. Join us.

About the Team:

The Facilities team ensures that every operation across the site is “go” at all times, supporting everything from power and utilities to highly specialized machines like industrial 3D printers. Our 1 million square foot headquarters is complex: one structure, but functionally 20 mini factories under one roof. That complexity brings unmatched opportunities to grow your skills through cross-training and ownership of specialized systems. With rapid expansion and development of the facility, we’re helping build a truly state-of-the-art work environment. This team is deeply embedded in both planning and execution, brought in early to shape the physical assets that will support scaled operations

About the Role:

  • Deep Crane Systems Expertise In-depth knowledge of overhead, gantry and jib crane architectures—hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and electrical subsystems—including VFDs, PLC controls, limit switches and brake assemblies
  • Proven Industry Experience Minimum 8-10+ years of hands-on crane maintenance or heavy-equipment service in industrial, marine, construction or mining settings
  • Advanced Troubleshooting & Repair Track record of diagnosing and repairing complex crane failures—rewiring control circuits, rebuilding hoists, overhauling gearboxes and realigning rails to eliminate repeat breakdowns
  • Technical Documentation & Drawing Interpretation Skilled at reading single-line diagrams, rigging schematics, design drawings and OEM manuals; experienced in generating service reports, work scopes and safety documentation
  • Project & Contractor Coordination Experience soliciting bids for specialized repairs, selecting and managing external vendors or field crews, overseeing QA/QC, permitting and compliance with OSHA 1910.179 and relevant industry standards
  • Team Leadership & Development Proven ability to build, mentor and manage a high-performing crane maintenance crew—assigning work, delivering training, fostering a safety-first culture and driving continuous improvement

About You:

  • Hands-On Crane Expertise: Proven experience maintaining and repairing overhead, gantry, and jib cranes, including hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical subsystems
  • Heavy-Equipment Background: Prior service-maintenance, construction, or mechanical-repair experience with industrial lifting equipment or similar trades
  • Safety-First Mindset: Thorough understanding of OSHA 1910.179, safe rigging practices, and health & safety regulations—comfortable working at heights (80 + ft) and following lockout/tagout procedures
  • Physical Agility: Able to climb ladders and access elevated platforms, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform squatting, stooping, and kneeling while wearing a full tool belt
  • Technical & Compliance Focus: Skilled at reading technical manuals, schematics, and inspection reports to ensure each lift meets load-test, grounding/bonding, and environmental standards
  • Leadership Potential: Strong communication and coaching skills, with a proactive approach to mentoring teammates and fostering a safety-first, continuous-improvement culture

Nice to haves but not required:

  • NCCCO Crane Operator–Supervisor Certification or similar advanced credential
  • Experience with IoT-Enabled Condition Monitoring platforms (e.g., vibration analysis, oil-analysis sensors)
  • Experience with Crane Modernization Upgrades (including hoist-motor retrofits or structural reinforcements)
  • Familiarity with API, ISO 1090 or EN 15011
