We are looking for a Group leader for Magnet Design and Modelling, to manage and supervise the detailed design of high temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet systems, together with their support structures and ancillary systems, while fulfilling the requirements of timeliness, cost and quality.

Responsibilities

Magnet design and Modelling

• Coordinate the design of HTS magnet systems in collaboration with other groups (cryogenics, vacuum, electrical, etc.)

• Lead the development of technical solutions for the design of the windings, joints, current leads and cooling systems, definition of materials and assessment of interfaces to the other neighbouring components, development of instrumentation requirements, etc.

• Define the R&D activities and required qualifications to validate the design by considering the required construction/assembly processes and techniques

• Manage the interfaces with other design and engineering groups: the vessel & thermal shield teams, system engineering, electrical/electronic engineers, vacuum/cryostat engineers, and others as required

• Coordinate the detailed design of HTS magnet systems together with their support structures and ancillary systems and their integration in the machine

• Supervise and review the writing of technical documentations, specifications and quality assurance documents in accordance with Renaissance Fusion's guidelines

• Review magnet design and modelling tasks and provide guidance for your team members

Team management

• Be the ambassador of Renaissance Fusion's vision within your team, and promote its culture, values (speed, simplicity, fantastic realism, constructive interference and unified force) and policies.

• Encourage collaboration at all levels of the organization.

• Ensure that your team is motivated to achieve its objectives.

Scientific outcome

• Coordinate the writing, review and approval of patents and scientific papers.

• Prepare scientific reports (presentations, posters, etc.) and represent Renaissance Fusion to scientific conferences and workshops.

• Remain on the lookout for any scientific developments in your field of expertise.

Requirements

Education and professional experience

• PhD or Master's degree + equivalent experience in electromagnetics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field

• Previous experience in the superconductor/magnet industry or high-tech laboratories would be a plus

• 8+ years of experience in superconducti magngnet design

• Experience as a technical leader/coordinator and/or in project management

Languages

• Fluent in English (C1/C2)

• Knowledge (B1 or higher) of French is a plus
