We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to design workholding fixtures and mechanical components for CNC metal removal machines and special-purpose equipment.

This role works closely with other engineering teams to support projects from design through manufacturing. The engineer will also provide support to manufacturing and service as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Design workholding fixtures based on customer part datum, machining process, and cutting forces
  • Design mechanical fixtures and devices using standard mechanical design principles
  • Select materials and understand basic heat treat applications
  • Apply proper component sizing, fits, and tolerances
  • Use and apply GD&T correctly on mechanical drawings
  • Support development of new workholding concepts and technologies
  • Work with Electrical, Software, and Manufacturing teams to ensure designs are understood and buildable
  • Create designs using AutoCAD, Siemens NX, or similar 3D CAD software
  • Create and maintain Bills of Material (BOMs) in the PLM system
  • Release drawings and BOMs for manufacturing and manage design changes
  • Participate in design reviews and communicate project status
  • Support suppliers and internal teams during build and assembly
  • Provide engineering support for service and field issues as needed
  • Maintain basic design documentation and records
  • Follow quality, safety, and environmental procedures
  • Stay current on new tools, equipment, and design practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of mechanical design experience (fixtures, tooling, or machinery preferred)
  • Experience with CNC machining or manufacturing environments
  • Ability to read and create mechanical drawings using GD&T
  • Experience with 3D CAD software (AutoCAD, Siemens NX, or similar)
