Aegis is seeking a Tooling Design Engineer to join our client's organization in Dekalb, IL. The ideal candidate has the following skills and experience:

• 2+ years of experience working as a tooling design engineer
• Industry; can vary- metal, steel, rubber or other polymers work well.
• Experience with form tooling
• Experience working with molds, plugs, trim dies.
• Experience with making sure the molds for the products are running correct and coming out of the machines correctly or fixing any issues that might come up.
• Experience with machine tooling
• Turning the packaging concepts into working ideas – using thermoforming, injection or trim equipment.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and CAD software.
• Experience translating packaging drawings and samples into 3D design software
• Experience with BOM
• Experience putting those designs into thermoforming ready designs
• Experience with prototyping the designs and validation of the product
• Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, production, and quality teams.
• Customer facing experience – will be working with the sales team mainly but could communicate with customers as needed.
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Hands on and detail-oriented individual.

Nice to have:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Plastics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering.
• Knowledge of thin-gauge plastics (PVC, PET, RPET, HIPS, etc)
• Vacuum/pressure forming principle experience
• Any cnc knowledge, programming experience would be great!
