Overview
We are seeking a Controls Engineer to support automation, controls upgrades, and field-based projects in a manufacturing environment. This role will be highly hands-on, focused on PLC programming, troubleshooting, panel wiring, and system commissioning.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a Controls Technician or Controls Engineer background who enjoys working directly with equipment, control panels, and on-site system improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, troubleshoot, and support PLC-based control systems (Siemens preferred; Allen-Bradley a plus)
- Configure and support HMI systems and operator interfaces
- Perform panel wiring, I/O checks, and control panel modifications
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control drawings
- Support equipment upgrades, installations, and commissioning activities
- Troubleshoot automation issues across electrical systems, motors, and controls hardware
- Work closely with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to resolve issues
- Assist with process improvements and system optimization
- Document changes and maintain control system standards
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in industrial controls, automation, or electrical systems
- Strong experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting
- Hands-on experience with panel wiring and control panels
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control drawings
- Experience with Siemens PLCs (TIA Portal preferred) or Allen-Bradley
- Familiarity with motors, drives, and industrial electrical systems
Preferred Experience
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments
- Background in field work, commissioning, or system startup
- Exposure to I/O configuration, instrumentation, and automation systems
- Experience supporting multiple projects or working in fast-paced environments
