We are seeking an experienced Assembly Manager to lead the mechanical and electrical assembly operations for a growing automation and custom machinery manufacturer. This individual will be responsible for overseeing assembly teams, driving continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring projects are completed on time and within quality standards, and supporting the successful build of automated equipment and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the mechanical and electrical assembly departments.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop assembly supervisors, leads, and technicians.
  • Ensure equipment is assembled according to engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Monitor production schedules and allocate resources to meet project deadlines.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing, and Service teams throughout the build process.
  • Troubleshoot assembly issues and coordinate corrective actions when needed.
  • Establish and maintain assembly procedures, work instructions, and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and quality standards.
  • Review project progress and provide updates to leadership.
  • Support equipment testing, machine acceptance, installation preparation, and customer deliveries.
  • Manage department performance metrics and implement improvement plans as needed.
  • Participate in hiring, training, performance evaluations, and employee development activities.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in assembly, manufacturing, automation, or machine building environments.
  • Experience leading mechanical and/or electrical assembly teams.
  • Strong understanding of custom automation equipment, industrial machinery, robotics, or manufacturing systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and assembly documentation.
  • Experience managing project timelines, labor resources, and production schedules.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with custom machine building, automated systems, robotics, or industrial equipment.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma experience.
  • Experience supporting equipment installation, field service, or customer-facing projects.
