Role Summary
The Software Systems Architecture team's mission is to ensure that technical teams across Rivian are aligned in a unified vision of our future vehicles. We achieve this mission by providing cross-functional oversight of the system and sub-system development processes, contributing technical expertise in selected areas, and bridging communication between domain specialists. Our team is proud of the breadth of our technical contributions, and we are always looking to expand the areas in which we can have an impact. Areas of special interest include network topology, processor selection, full-stack latency analysis, safety isolation, and many more.
Responsibilities

- Work with multiple future program teams to understand holistic product needs concerning all domains, including Propulsion, Chassis, Thermal, Energy Management, Infotainment, ADAS, and Body Controls. \n
- Interface with multiple functional domains and help define and push the limit for future technology roadmap \n
- Help define and decompose program functional and performance requirements to sub-systems, ensuring that we are defining and leading the state of the art \n
- Work with Program and Sub System teams, understand system/sub-system trades and develop an optimized and harmonious program and sub-system requirements \n
- Work cross-functionally to design the system architecture and corresponding function allocation, ensuring the solution is scalable and solves future variants. \n
- Work to optimally assign a function to mechanical hardware, electrical hardware, or software. \n
- Create and run models to understand the feasibility and fundamental limits of various designs \n
- Perform system analysis to understand strengths, drawbacks, and limitations \n
- Provide and drive system optimization \n
Qualifications
- \n
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. \n
- Knowledge designing, optimizing, and developing the following communication networks, power electronics, complex electromechanical systems \n
- Experience with System of Systems Engineering \n
- Solid fundamental knowledge of mechanical and electrical domains and power conversion between the two \n
- Minimum of 5 years experience designing and developing systems for ground up \n
- Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment. \n
- Good team player with excellent communication skills. \n
- Self-motivated: Demonstrated ability to set direction and guide the team towards it. \n
Pay Disclosure
Salary Range California-Based Applicants: $184,000 – $211,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental, and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is adequate on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
