Role Summary

As an Engineering Manager for Body Exteriors, you will lead a team to deliver automotive Body Exterior components to program cost, weight, and functional targets, helping to grow the organization while also having ownership of your given commodity.


Responsibilities

  • The Engineering Manager is a technical leader in their field and is the ‘go-to’ person within Rivian for their program
  • Build, lead, and develop a world class team of engineers to deliver Body Exteriors to a specific Rivian vehicle platforms
  • Mentor and coach younger Engineers and develop roadmaps for their professional development
  • The scope of the role covers all project milestones from program kick off to stable production.
  • The candidate will work within a matrix organization while delivering towards project-based goals set by the Management Team.
  • Ability to influence and work with cross functional teams to drive efficient & robust design, ensure lessons learned from other programs are applied to your program and vice versa.
  • Adopt a Systems Engineering approach for Exteriors (NUDD, DVP) to deliver world class execution of designs.
  • Develop robust DVP system for system sign off including leading any proof-of-concept testing prior to tooling kick off.
  • Ensure component development is in line with program gateway targets, including management of quality, timing, piece cost, investment, ED&D, and mass & sustainability

Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Science in an engineering discipline (Masters degree and significant experience is a plus)
  • 3+ years of firsthand experience leading teams in developing, validating, and launching vehicle Body Exteriors into production
  • Strong understanding of the first-principal physics & requirements of body Exterior components
  • Detailed understanding of the manufacturing, materials and processes utilized to produce your components as well as commercial and financial awareness
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range for California-Based Applicants: $168,000 - $193,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, and other factors permitted by law).

 

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premium
