Role Summary
In this unique manager role, you will lead a team that is responsible for Rivian vehicles as they leave the plant ready for their adventures. As vehicles roll off the assembly line, your team will get to go over them with a fine-toothed comb, finding any issues, diagnosing concerns, and ensuring that anything you find is fully resolved to the highest standards of quality and workmanship before the vehicle is shipped to a customer. You’ll also be able to suggest changes to products and processes to help the team improve. The opening is located at our Normal, IL facility and reports directly to the Sr. Manager of End of Line.
Responsibilities

- Make a critical impact as you work with plant operations and manufacturing leaders and team members to test, rectify, and ship Rivian’s products. Driving continuous improvements to meet and exceed delivery, quality, cost, and other goals. \n
- Monitor and improve team safety, by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures. \n
- Leverage your strong leadership, training, and mentorship skills to do the following: \n
- Lead your team to achieve Delivery and Quality Targets, while maintaining safety front and center \n
- Drive process improvements and serve as a change manager where needed \n
- Develop departmental plans and priorities for your team \n
- Develop, manage, and train your team of Group Leaders and Team Members performance in-line with company goals \n
- Responsible for Coaching and Developing your team, on new initiatives (5S, Lean Manufacturing) etc. \n
- Increase the efficiency of existing processes and procedures to enhance the company’s internal capacity \n
- Have the autonomy to make key contributions combined with the support of other managers \n
- Have opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and/or pursue advancement in our global organization. \n
Qualifications
- \n
- 7-10 years working experience in a Manufacturing environment preferred (preferably Automotive). \n
- A four-year degree in a Engineering discipline (preferred). \n
- 5+ years Manufacturing Supervisory Experience Preferred (preferably automotive). \n
- Must have a good understanding of manufacturing procedures and practices. \n
- Experience with lean manufacturing. \n
- Process and data driven \n
- Understanding of labor budgets, KPI's, and efficiency reporting. \n
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to coach and mentor. \n
- Ability to control resources and policy formation. \n
- Computer literacy including MS Office Suite programs. \n
- Problem solving experience – 8D method. \n
- Kaizen / continuous improvement process experience. \n
- 6 Sigma greenbelt or blackbelt desired. \n
- Good oral and written communication skills. \n
- Demonstrated project management skills. \n
- Specialized knowledge and strong experience in manufacturing operations, Experience in a high-mix, high-volume environment is highly preferred. \n
- Experience providing leadership to managers, supervisors, and/or professional staff. \n
- Knowledge of and experience with Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement. Certification is an advantage. \n
- Ability to stand for 8-12 hours per day. \n
- Required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. \n
- Ability to lift and carry at least 25 pounds. \n
- Ability to perform all duties in a working environment that may contain dust, high noise levels, hot and cold weather \n
