Role Summary
Help us keep the world adventurous forever by taking a leading role in designing and implementing the firmware that runs on our vehicles! As part of the Software System Architecture team, you will be writing code that supports every single controller in our cars, and building prototypes to expand what’s possible in future vehicles.
Responsibilities
- \n
- \nDesign, develop, and test automotive grade software destined for an ECU application running in an RTOS (Real Time Operating System) environment. This role requires the individual to successfully move up and down the stack, implementing MCU drivers, off chip peripherals, and hardware agnostic software stacks. \n \n
- \nBe aware of the various performance trade-offs as they relate to CPU time, memory usage, debuggability, and traceability when introducing new software. \n \n
- \n
- \nEngage with multiple stakeholders across the organization to solicit requirements and drive changes in our hardware and software stack. \n \n
- \nWork on designs that push our hardware capabilities to the limit, developing software that does more with less. \n \n
Qualifications
- \nBachelor or higher in a relevant field such as Computer Science or Computer Engineering \n
- \n
- 1-2 years experience developing software for embedded products via internship or professional experience \n
- Professional experience in embedded coding and system design \n
- \nProficiency in debugging things at a hardware level using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and hardware debuggers \n \n

Preferred Qualifications:
\n- \n
- \nAwareness of ISO 26262 Functional Safety and how it influences software design choices in an automotive environment \n \n
- \nFamiliarity with automotive bus protocols such as CAN (Controller Area Network), LIN, and automotive Ethernet \n \n
- \nDemonstrated interest in the hardware/software interface, including an understanding of trade-offs between hardware and software implementations of various features \n \n
Pay Disclosure
Salary Range California-Based Applicants: $105,500 – $130,900 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental, and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is adequate on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
