Role Summary

Internship Term: 


Rivian internships are experiences optimized for student candidates. To be eligible, you must be an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited program during the internship term with an expected graduation date between 2024 and 2026.

Note that if your university has specific requirements for internship programs, it is your responsibility to fulfill those requirements. 

This role is a part of our Co-Op Program. In order to be considered, you must be able to work full time for either Cohort A or Cohort B.

Cohort A: January - August 2024
Cohort B: May - December 2024


The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Aid in the development of a usable standard platform for ABB and KUKA robotics.
  • Aid in the continuous improvement of the virtual commissioning platform.
  • Identifying and plugging gaps in the current platform.
  • Identify requirements to incorporate ABB robot studio as a usable VC platform and aid in the development and implementation
  • Aid in the continuous improvement of the Process Simulate add-in (C# & .NET) namely keeping up with the feature requests coming in from suppliers and internal users.
  • Undertake simulation and virtual commissioning projects both internally and externally.


  • Must be currently pursuing a bachelors, masters, or PhD degree at an accredited university
    • Actively pursuing a degree or one closely related in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechantronics Engineering 
  • Experience in using CAD packages such as NX, Solidworks, AutoCAD, Catia etc.

  • Experience or keen interest in Controls Engineering (PLC's, Robotics, Networking)

  • Experience or interest in Industrial Robotics

  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally for short durations.


Pay Disclosure

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Internships: The range of pay for internships is 25.00-51.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on location, and other factors permitted by law. 


Rivian provides robust wellness benefits, and a medical insurance package for interns, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
