Role Summary
The Rivian Supply Chain team is looking for highly motivated and exceptional Purchasing professionals to bring Rivian’s engineered products to life. In this role, the Purchasing Manager will be responsible for sourcing and managing Contingent Labor, Test & Development, and Engineering Services. As a Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for all commercial aspects of the awarding of new business, developing strong supplier relationships, and working side by side with our manufacturing and engineering counterparts to push the envelope of our technical requirements and capabilities. You will also take the lead in making sure Rivian can meet its cost targets, suppliers deliver to our aggressive timelines, and services are received at the highest level of quality. In our team, we expect our people to own every aspect of the sourcing process from start to finish and everything in between. This role reports to the Manager of Professional Services Group Purchasing within the Indirect Procurement Team of the Supply Chain and Logistics Organization.
Responsibilities

- Develop category management strategy in line with procurement best practices \n
- Lead the strategic sourcing process, from start to finish, for Contingent Labor, Test & Development, and Engineering Services purchases in compliance with Rivian purchasing policies \n
- Lead contractual negotiations with suppliers on Non-disclosure Agreements, General Terms & Conditions and SOW Agreements \n
- Identify potential suppliers, analyze capabilities, and develop a sourcing strategy and roadmap for Rivian stakeholders while considering market conditions as well as technology roadmaps \n
- Perform detailed assessments of supplier proposal/quote submissions \n
- Actively manage supplier relationships and performance through key performance metrics and regular business reviews \n
- Own the business relationship with manufacturing and engineering teams and responsibility for rate negotiations, continuity of supply, risk management, and operation execution to plan \n
- Effectively balance the needs of business groups and engineering groups to ensure successful product launches \n
- Successfully close complex negotiations including commercial terms, statements of work, and pricing and ensure proper documentation (i.e. contracts, POs, approvals, etc.) \n
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to present the business case to executive-level leadership for approvals \n
- Manage spend in collaboration with Rivian Finance team \n
- Actively manage multiple projects and track status and results \n
Qualifications
- \n
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related field \n
- 5+ years of strategic sourcing, procurement, or purchasing experience. \n
- 5+ years’ experience leading RFI/RFP/RFQ processes. \n
- 5+ years managing commercial business relationships with large suppliers in an Automotive, Services or high-volume manufacturing business. \n
- 5+ years MS Office \n
- Experience using Coupa and Ironclad is preferred \n
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in providing alternative solutions. \n
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective vendor relationships and cross-functional collaboration. \n
- Excellent negotiation and contract management skills. \n
- Knowledge of procurement best practices and supply chain management principles. \n
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently while managing multiple projects simultaneously. \n
- Comfort in working independently, in teams, and collaboratively across various cross-functional departments in a dynamic, fast-paced environment \n
