Role Summary
In this position, you will be responsible for parts that make our battery pack safe and reliable. You will see these products from requirements development through validation testing and high volume production. The opening will be located at our Tustin, CA facility and reports directly to a Battery Design Manager.
Responsibilities
• Design responsible for components inside the High Voltage Distribution Box (HVDB)
• Incorporate requirements, space constraints, and best practices into CAD models
• Create clear and detailed drawings that will ensure high quality and reliability
• Run Product Development Team (PDT) meetings with suppliers to track issues, revisions, and part delivery
• Track cost/mass/timing status for components and continuously improve these metrics
• Drive issues to resolution through problem solving techniques (containment, root cause, corrective actions, etc.)
• Create Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Design Verification Plan (DVP)
• Support manufacturing build trials and incorporate Design for Manufacturing (DFM) feedback
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
• Passion for working on products that involve the intersection of mechanical, electrical, and software engineering
• Strong communication, multitasking, and interpersonal skills, both in presentation and technical writing
• Excellent problem-solving skills; reliant on engineering fundamentals
• Strong desire to learn new things and be hands-on
• Self starter, must be willing to run to and seek out issues
• Previous experience delivering to aggressive timelines
• A positive attitude towards change
• Knowledge of battery behavior and high voltage safety is a plus
• Experience with Catia V6 (3D experience) is a plus
Pay Disclosure
Salary Range Rate for California Based Applicants: $107,000-$123,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
\nBenefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
