Role Summary

Reliability is at the core of Electric Adventure Vehicles. As a Supplier Reliability Engineer, you
will play a key role in designing Rivian’s products with reliability in mind.


Responsibilities

  • Set and communicate Reliability requirements and targets and test plans for mechanical
    components, subsystems and assemblies.
  • Facilitate Design FMEA sessions in order to drive reliable design choices and improve
    validation test planning.
  • Specify reliability validation plans for externally supplied components and subsystems.
  • Influence supplier selection for higher reliability and provide clear guidance on reliability
    requirements and demonstration to suppliers.
  • Develop Ongoing Reliability Testing, Burn-in Testing and Hass Testing strategies for supplied
    components.
  • Review supplier validation test plan and provide feedback on sample sizes, duration, test
  • Lead root cause investigation with cross functional team into a reliability test failures
  • Report status of key projects to management
  • Facilitate DFMEA sessions for assigned parts

Qualifications

 

  • 5+ years of experience 
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Facilitating DFMEAs and leading cross functional teams.
  • Deploying reliability testing guidelines.
  • Contributing to design modifications to improve reliability.
  • Mechanical components manufacturing processes.
  • Working with suppliers.
  • Reliability statistics, ie. Lifetime analysis, Repair Rates per X Vehicles, etc.
  • A desire to contribute to a respectful, fun, inclusive and inspiring team culture.
  • Knowledge of methods to design-in and sustain reliability for one of the following:
    • Suspension systems and components
    • Dampers
    • Springs
    • Bushings and Links
    • Durability, Strength, and Fatigue analysis
  • Knowledge of governing equations for reliability statistics (Preferred)
  • Experience deploying Ongoing Reliability Testing and Burn-In or Hass Testing Strategies (preferred)
  • Experience with PPAP process (Preferred)
  • Experience in the automotive or consumer electronics industries (preferred) 

Pay Disclosure


Salary Range Irvine-Based Applicants: $120,000-$140,000 
Salary Range Palo Alto-Based Applicants: $130,000-$150,000  

(actual compensation will be determined based on experience, and other factors permitted by law).
Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
