As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.

Role Summary

The Smart Diagnostics team at Rivian supports developing and deploying Rivian’s Smart Diagnostics AI system that drives in-vehicle and remote diagnostics using Generative AI and ML. Internal teams and Rivian vehicle owners alike use our systems.

We operate highly scalable infrastructure for serving and orchestrating LLMs, Vector Stores, and agents. This role will be focused on delivering quality software and backend services, enhancing the utility of GenAI frameworks, and exploring the bleeding edge of this new technology.

  • Design and develop production full-stack products including frontend and backend distributed systems and micro-services at scale.
  • Be thoughtful about the customer experience and limitations of modern AI systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in CS or any STEM discipline.
  • Strong coding skills in one or more programming languages – Golang, Python, Rust, Java.

  • Experience with frontend development with Typescript / Javascript frameworks (React/Redux a plus).
  • Unit testing and test-driven development experience.
  • Experience working with Machine Learning, AI systems, and libraries.
  • Knowledge of Cloud fundamentals (preferably in AWS) and distributed systems.
  • Robust system and component-level design and troubleshooting skills, including memory and CPU profiling on cloud-based services.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, Git, and Release Management.
  • Prior automotive experience is a plus.
