Role Summary

The Field Service Engineering team provides comprehensive on-site and remote diagnostic support to Field Service Technicians. They collaborate closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to conduct root cause analyses and implement effective corrective actions for both emerging trends and critical issues.


Responsibilities

  • Deliver diagnostic and repair support across multiple Rivian service facilities within a defined geographical region.
  • Specialize in advanced diagnostics for all Rivian vehicle models and systems, encompassing HV battery, Infotainment, Drive Unit, and Driver’s Assistance.
  • Assist in resolving complex or highly technical repairs, demonstrating proper diagnostic and repair methodologies, and conducting on-site training as required.
  • Develop efficient diagnostic and repair strategies to minimize vehicle downtime.
  • Support the development of diagnostic tools to optimize functionality and end user experience.
  • Collaborate with Diagnostic Engineering and Specialist teams to streamline and automate diagnostics across major vehicle systems.
  • Provide technical mentorship to foster best practices, safety protocols, and operational efficiency.
  • Work towards achieving regional KPIs, focusing on reducing vehicle downtime and improving diagnostic response times.
  • Conduct and document engineering studies and validations of Rivian products in real-world conditions.
  • Investigate and define issues related to early life and durability failures of Rivian products, advocating for the voice of the customer and field service for corrective actions within the engineering framework
  • Implement incident response plans for critical field events necessitating immediate on-site support or data collection.
  • Cultivate a positive work environment and promote a culture of collaboration within Rivian facilities and with external support partners.
  • Promote Rivian Compass values within each local service location across North America.
  • Contribute expertise to any other strategic initiatives that leverage technical knowledge and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of automotive experience specializing in advanced technical diagnosis of modern vehicle systems.
  • ASE Master Certification or other automotive equivalent, bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science highly desired
  • Proficiency in utilizing advanced vehicle diagnostic tools and strong computer literacy.
  • Exceptional data analysis and critical thinking abilities working with data analysis systems such as Databricks & Tableau is advantageous
  • Prior experience as an automotive technician is advantageous and highly desired.
  • Demonstrated success in managing service support requirements within complex operational environments.
  • Proven track record of collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams in technology-driven settings.
  • Experience in process design, with proficiency in documenting and optimizing complex processes specifically within the Atlassian ecosystem (Jira, Confluence etc)
  • Strong analytical skills and structured problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills for internal and external collaborations.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality, accurate results.
