Role Summary
In this role, the Staff Electrical Integration Engineer will help integrate and test the vehicle power, communications, architecture, and energy distribution requirements for the low-voltage electrical systems.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to evaluating system failure modes, create and drive integration and validation plans, and support the execution of these test plans.
- Develop and execute test plans to validate system-level performance of electrical architecture.
- Analyze test outcomes and create test reports and summaries, escalating cross-functionally as necessary.
- Identify, document, and highlight cross-functional gaps and dependencies - proactively work towards creative solutions to resolve integration issues and ensure vehicle functionality.
- Deep-dive into vehicle log data and source code if required to root cause system-level issues and facilitate rapid issue resolution in collaboration with domain experts.
- Support systems engineering activities including interface definition, development, and functional testing in coordination with various vehicle-level systems.
- Hands-on technical support with debugging and resolution of vehicle issues.
- Support the integration and testing of next-generation electrical systems.
- Debug hardware and software issues during verification and validation testing.
- Support proof of concept development.
Qualifications
- BS + 10 years or MS + 8 years or PhD + 3 years or equivalent experience in electrical engineering or related field.
- Ability to dive deep into electrical first principles and work in fast-paced and challenging environments.
- Good understanding of the software and system integration of the components
- High technical competence in electrical engineering
- Strong Creative thinking and problem-solving toolbox.
- Deep technical understanding of electrical functional distribution
- Experience with reading electrical schematics and electrical wiring/distribution diagrams
- Familiarity with Python and/or scripting languages
- Proficiency in necessary test and measurement tools (Oscilloscope, Power Supplies, Data Loggers)
- Demonstrated strong creative thinking and problem-solving toolbox.
- Ability to collaborate and drive direction through multidisciplinary discussions.
- Understanding of automotive requirements
- Have a fine eye for detail, yet the ability to 'zoom out' and see the big picture.
Pay Disclosure
- Salary Range for California (Tustin) Based Applicants: $154,000 - 192,500 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law)
- Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26
