Role Summary
This is a fantastic opportunity to shape the Electro-Mechanical design of Rivian’s electric vehicle systems! We’re looking for highly motivated, multi-disciplined, Electrical Design and Release engineer to help us design and package electro-mechanical components, and low-voltage harnesses in support of electronic hardware that will lead the EV industry. The role includes in-house design with supplier selection, and Tier 1 nomination & management, vehicle packaging, drawing releases, component & system validation, ensuring homologation requirements are met, plus preparation and manufacturing support, and field-failure analysis.
Responsibilities
- Be the Lead Engineer of your electromechanical components (off-the-shelf or in-house), driving technical and product excellence at all levels.
- Support and Develop any Proof of Concept work needed to explore new technologies and ensure program success
- Lead complete life-cycle development of electronics, interface with studio-design/User-interface- story integration, specifications development, Architecture-Block diagram, supplier nomination, and technical assessment of proposed solution.
- Engage with all cross-functional engineering and designs teams to understand requirements and fully optimize solutions for overall performance, vehicle cost, investment, tooling, and mass
- Lead product development including PDRs and CDRs, and support DFMEA, functional safety analysis, and PFMEAs.
- Work closely with program management to ensure components are delivered on time at all stages of the development
- Fully integrate components into subsystems and the overall vehicle system
- Work with internal teams and suppliers to maintain component and system-level DVPRs and ensure test execution
Qualifications
- BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, or related engineering degree; Master's is a plus
- 2+ years of experience working in vehicle level component programs preferred
- Strong knowledge of supplier processes, manufacturing, and standards
- Very good understanding of Electrical Engineering fundamentals; electro-mechanical background is a plus.
- Understanding of the automotive hardware/software development process
- Experience working with Tier 1s to deliver complete products and systems on time and within budget
- Understanding of PLM and component release cycles
- Deep understanding of electronics, packaging, and software
- Working knowledge of vehicle electrical systems
- Experience with systems engineering and analysis
- Experience working on complex, cross-functional, distributed embedded systems
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Excellent documentation skills
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%
Pay Disclosure
Salary Range for California Based Candidates: $96,700.00 - $120,900.00 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
Salary Range for Northern California Based Candidates: $105,100.00 - $131,400.00 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
