Role Summary

In this role, you'll be responsible for the full program lifecycle of Vehicle Exterior Combination lamps and Signal lamps including the engineering design, development & integration of the following components on new vehicle programs as a Staff DRE. As a system lead you will be responsible for the technical concept development of a vehicle lighting program and function as a technical lead between Studio, Engineering Package/Attributes, and supplier development with the procurement team. As a vehicle lighting DRE there are opportunities to support the development of Front Lighting systems and Interiors but Primary responsibilities will be defined by system locations and supplier strategies.

You will also work with Cross functional engineering groups for vehicle attributes along with exterior Lighting components that interface with BIW, Structures, and exterior components such as Facia, Mirrors, Tail Gate, etc.

Interior lighting components that interface with Cockpit, Door trim, Roof liner.


Responsibilities

  • Program and Engineering Lead on Exterior Lighting Program activities for Rear Combination and Signal Lamps.
  • Engineering BoM development. Cost / weight pack development. Weight BoM management
  • DFMEA & DVP creation & maintenance
  • Design surface feasibility 'FC' checks. Provide feasibility advice & guidance to Studio.
  • Participate in cross functional integration reviews for components & systems, considering technical application, form, function & harmonization of the execution, including timing plans.
  • Develop scope-of-work documents with key deliverables identified, and work with suppliers to deliver to key program milestones.
  • Support the generation / development of design rules & guidelines.
  • Leading the responsible development of the 3D and 2D models for engineering.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineerin
  • 6+ years of CAD operation skills required, with the ability to create and manipulate geometry as the primary means of communicating concepts and schemes. Expected time allocation: 50% dedicated to geometry review, generation, and updates
  • 4-6 years of Exterior Lighting Lamp development at a Tier 1 or OEM
  • Catia v5 / v6 operative skills, to be able to demonstrate high technical competence.
  • Generation of 3D geometry & sectional data. (Key module utilization: Part design & Geometric Surface design)
  • Evidence of engineering skills, including ability to manage & resolve engineering issues.
  • Highly motivated with good logical reasoning. Strong numeracy & literacy with good organizational & communication skills
  • English language is essential, a second language would be advantageous.
  • Capable of overcoming cultural & inter-functional barriers
  • Working Knowledge of Speos would be advantageous.

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range Irvine-Based Applicants: $137,800-$172,200 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, and other factors permitted by law).
Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
