Role Summary
The Enterprise Insurance & Risk Management Team is seeking an experienced Risk Manager who is results-driven with risk and loss prevention experience within the electric vehicle, automotive and/or heavy manufacturing sectors. This role will provide on the ground support implementing our risk management framework, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and fostering a culture of safety. Adept at conducting thorough risk assessments, developing strategic initiatives to mitigate potential losses, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance operational safety and efficiency for a production environment. The role will support the implementation of corporate risk management policies and programs, work with divisions, corporate departments, insurance companies, brokers, claims vendors and state regulatory agencies to collect and furnish information. The role provides logistical support for department operations as needed. This professional individual contributor position should be able to work independently without supervision and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment in an agile manner.
Responsibilities
Results driven Risk Manager will be dedicated to the Production and Manufacturing environment for Rivian and report to the Corporate Director, Enterprise Risk & Insurance, and responsible to:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management framework specific to electric vehicle production, focusing on safety, compliance, and environmental impact.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards in manufacturing processes and battery management, leading to a reduction in operational incidents.
- Design and execute loss control strategies that minimize liability exposure, resulting in a decrease in insurance premiums annually.
- Collaborate with facilities, engineering and compliance teams to ensure adherence to industry standards (ISO, UL) and enhance product safety.
- Support incident management, crisis response, including the development of contingency plans that effectively support significant incidents or disruptions to operations.
- Facilitate training programs for employees on risk awareness and loss prevention strategies, improving overall workplace safety and reducing incident rates and loss costs for worker’s compensation.
- Prepare detailed risk analysis reports for executive leadership, providing actionable insights to inform strategic decision-making and support company objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in science, risk management, insurance, or finance
- 5+ years of Risk Management experience
- A working knowledge of property/casualty insurance or other significant line of coverage including Management Liability (D&O) and/or Cyber Insurance
- An ability to interact with various levels throughout the company, analytical thinking and financial analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent computer skills using PowerPoint, Access, Excel, and Word
- Project management skills a plus, including knowledge of Smartsheet, ASANA and other project management tools.

Any risk related certification, including but not limited to the following will be a plus: Certified Risk Management Professional (CRMP), Certified Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), Certificate IV in Compliance and Risk Management (GRC Institute), Business Continuity Management Lead Auditor (BCM LA), Business Continuity Certified Planner (BCCP)/ Business Continuity Certified Expert (BCCE), Disaster Recovery Institute (DRI).
