Role Summary
In this position you will develop body structures that meet all key team, customer, and regulatory requirements, while interactively work with all areas of the company to find optimal solutions that meet all department needs.
Responsibilities
- Develop high performance body structures (Body-In-White)
- Collaborate with studio engineering to find technical solutions to achieve their visions
- Collaborate with cross functional teams and find solutions to package their components as well as help meet related performance targets and requirements.
- Work with cross-functional stake holders to develop engineering solutions that meet requirements for vehicle Safety, Durability, and NVH.
- Create, document and sign off engineering release documents (such as 2D and 3D drawings, and DVP)
- Manage program specific timing, DFMEA and DVP action items.
- Meet cost, weight, and tooling investment targets for responsible parts
- Work closely with manufacturing to deliver a design that can be produced at supplier and Rivian plants
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
- 4+ Years of structural engineering foundation experience (automotive OEM/supplier experience, university race team leadership role, etc)
- Experience working through a full product lifecycle from design through launch.
- 4+ years working with the occupant compartment- pillars, cross members, roof, cargo box, etc. and underbody- rails, floor pans, bumpers, etc
- Previous success working with stamped and spot-welded structures
- Hands on development with both steel and aluminum structures
- Good collaborative and teamwork skills
- Desire to make an impact on the earth’s sustainability
- Curiosity to challenge convention and continuously ask “Why” and “How would I….”?
- Passion to continuously evolve and improve your own skills and capabilities
Pay Disclosure
Salary Range for California-Based Applicants: $107,000 - $134,800 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, and other factors permitted by law).
Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premium
