Role Summary
As the Manager of Program Management in Special Projects your role will be to ensure that our department operates with clarity for project defi nition, resource allocation, budget assignment and technical requirements to align with the priorities of our department. You will report to the Sr Manager of Special Projects and manage a team of program managers. Special Projects is a unique team that owns large engineering and build projects from cradle to grave, with its own engineering, procurement, program management, manufacturing, and build resources. These projects deliver both to teams within Rivian as well as to external partners. Your role will be to ensure that the Special Projects department is able to eff ectively manage all its project priorities across the wide variety of team members, as well as to direct Special Projects Program Management staff in their duties ranging from program planning to procurement to internal logistics. You will also interface with project requestors, both internal and external, to keep Special Projects work aligned with cross-functional priorities.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain department organizational processes and initiatives with responsibility to how our department works
- Lead and manage a team of program managers that encompass the full spectrum of cross-departmental interfaces for eff ective planning and execution of projects including engineering, procurement, and build.
- Manage the departmental portfolio to balance resourcing and prioritization while escalating roadblocks and facilitating forward project progression. ● Foresee and fill in gaps in communication and processes that support the interplay of teams.
- Continuously align all functional teams on the shared scope, purpose, and timing for Special Projects
- Develop business processes to drive efficiency within our team as we interface with studio, engineering, purchasing, prototyping, manufacturing, marketing and other teams
- Drive business discussion that support build requirements, timing, and design maturity
- Track functional requirements and alignment against build plan
Qualifications
- The ability to influence people around you to get clarity on decisions at senior business levels
- In depth program management knowledge and experience
- A strong interest to develop the people around you – both reporting to and not reporting to you
- A background in engineering (bachelors in engineering required with post graduate degree preferred)
- A full understanding of the development process and the ability to bring technical knowledge to identify and solve problems
- The ability to manage deadlines and motivate people to support the tasks required for Special Projects activities
Pay Disclosure
Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $167,400.00 - $209,300.00 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
