Role Summary

Working together with your team, the Sr. Remanufacturing Technician will be responsible for the disassembly and reassembly of selected Rivian powertrain and electric components returned from Service Centers. You will safely and accurately record the condition of returned components during the disassembly EV propulsion systems (HV battery packs, Drive Units, and Power Electronics). During remanufacturing and reassembly, the Remanufacturing Technician II will be responsible for recording critical data to track reliability and quality. Ideal candidates would be one who is open to new ideas and loves to continuously learn. To be successful in this role you must have a customer-first approach, a quality core, and a team centered mentality.


Responsibilities

  • Primarily responsible for technical analysis and initial triage of field return parts
  • Actively support and help develop remanufacturing processes, launch, ramp, and future deployments
  • Perform technical analyses, document issues, prioritize and escalate to the appropriate assignee
  • Accurately and clearly communicate detailed steps taken to verify issues
  • Meet production goals
  • Support cross-functional teams to identify the root cause of issues
  • Perform part receiving tests, repairs, and end of line tests – at all complexity levels
  • Support campaign and containment activities
  • Perform work in accordance with standard methods, while identifying continuous improvement opportunities that do not compromise quality or safety
  • Support production activities as necessary.
  • Embody a collaborative team spirit in an ever-changing environment – working with field service, production, and product development teams to strengthening organizational learning
  • Promote and maintain a safe and organized (5S) working environment
  • Additional plant support, including travel, may be required depending on business need

Qualifications

  • Automotive Technology Degree, certification, or equivalent experience
  • Two to four years as an Engineering Technician, Diagnostic Technician, or mechanical or electrical production experience
  • Fundamental understanding of mechanical power transmission (gears, bearings, lash, lubrication, etc.) and knowledge of EV powertrains preferred
  • Fundamental understanding of high and low voltage electrical circuits, including electric motors and high voltage batteries
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical assembly drawings is valued
  • Strong, verbal, and written communication and organization skills
  • Detail oriented with the inclination to stop and consider the big picture where necessary
  • When necessary able to convert to a production-oriented mindset and to meet output requirements.
  • Ability to support alternate shifts and work schedules if needed
  • No drug or alcohol related driving incidents in the last 3 years
  • No more than 1 serious moving violation in the last 3 years
  • Must have a valid driver's license in the state of residence that you will be driving/operating a vehicle
  • Will be subject to continuous Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) monitoring
  • Ability to stand for 8-10 hours per day
  • Frequent use of hands to handle or feel material during quality inspections and performing day to day responsibilities
  • Occasionally required to climb, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Required to communicate using telephone and/or e-mail
  • Ability to read, view, and interpret documents such as safety rules, SOPs, and repair instructions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to perform all duties in a working environment that may contain dust, high noise levels, hot and cold weather

Pay Disclosure

Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $33.29 to $36.99 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
