Role Summary

The Director of Talent Management will report directly to the Sr. Director of Belonging, Learning, & Talent and partner with other People Teams and Business leaders to develop and implement solutions that align with key business strategies to deliver impactful talent solutions, drive change, build organization capability, and enhance organization effectiveness and performance.

This position provides expertise in developing, implementing, and managing strategies and enterprise programs for performance management, employee listening and engagement, succession planning, and org effectiveness. This role will activate and continuously build innovative talent management programs and processes to improve the engagement, performance, and movement of talent across Rivian.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive talent management strategies aligned with Rivian’s goals/priorities.
  • Develop the program, strategy, and approach for the Company’s talent management programs and processes, including performance management, talent review and succession, employee listening and engagement, as well targeted coaching and development of executive and high potential leaders.
  • Lead organizational effectiveness initiatives in the areas of strategy, organizational assessment, change management, team development, and employee engagement initiatives, and appreciation and recognition.
  • Partner with senior leaders throughout the organization to understand critical business issues and, advise and identify talent requirements.
  • Provides regular updates (status, insights, risks, recommendations) on Company’s talent programs for the Board of Directors and Exec Ops.
  • Consult with business leaders and cross-functional partners to identify, determine, develop, and deploy the right talent programs suited to the needs of targeted employee populations (e.g., exempt vs non-exempt, distributed workforce, etc.).
  • Use data to drive, identify, and determine current and future organizational talent requirements.
  • Stays current with talent management best practices and new supporting technology.
  • Builds and maintains positive working relationships within the People function and with other functions within the Company.

Qualifications

  • Education or experience equivalent to a four-year college degree is required. Graduate degree or equivalent highly desired.
  • Ten or more years of experience working in organization development.
  • Ability to lead through influence in a matrixed environment and demonstrated ability to excel in a collaborative and team environment.
  • Executive presence and ability to provide updates at Board level (generating and delivering content)
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, interact, influence, and communicate at all levels with excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing talent management strategies.
  • Strong Project Management and delivery focused.
  • Experience in progressive, fast pace and hyper-growth organizations.
  • Manufacturing, automotive, and/or tech industry experience preferred.
  • Experience in researching, developing, and maintaining relationship with talent and technology vendors to deliver programs.
  • Outstanding analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills; ability to determine root causes and provide solutions.
  • Expert level PowerPoint and Excel skills.

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range for California based applicants: $150,000 - 220,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
