Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.
As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.
Role Summary
As a Controls Software Test Engineer at Rivian, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of powertrain domain controllers and embedded control systems for our electric vehicles. You will be responsible for designing and executing comprehensive test cases for Continuous Integration (CI) pipelines to identify and resolve software issues. This includes developing and maintaining automated test suites that encompass unit, functional, and system tests, while performing hands-on testing to validate control algorithms and software functionality.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with system engineers and software developers to create and implement test cases, verification criteria, and simulations. You will automate test processes, enhance existing test scripts, and develop custom testing tools to ensure robust software validation. You will also troubleshoot systems and ECUs using a variety of lab and measurement tools, such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters, Vector CANalyzer, CANape, and Rivian’s in-house tools, while tracking and analyzing software bugs through detailed log analysis.
A significant portion of your responsibilities will include performing ECU-level testing on MIL (Model-in-the-Loop) and HiL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) setups, validating control algorithms in both simulation and hardware environments. You will also contribute to requirements, SIL (Software-in-the-Loop), and regression testing efforts, defining and executing regression test cases to ensure software meets performance criteria.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge vehicle propulsion technologies in a highly innovative environment, helping shape the future of electric mobility.
