Role Summary

Rivian is seeking a strategic and results-driven Product Line Manager to lead the development, execution, and growth of our lifestyle merchandise portfolio. This role is ideal for a retail-savvy leader who thrives in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment and is eager to drive revenue, enhance brand positioning, and deliver exceptional products to consumers. You possess an innate and sophisticated sense for great products and will work cross-functionally with Design, Adventure Gear, Marketing, Retail, and Digital Commerce teams to build merchandise assortment, 3rd party partnerships and local goods collections. You will design and facilitate merchandise strategy that drives business results and connects Rivian with our communities, all centered on sharing our adventurous passions and desire to make the world a better place. You will lead by example and inspire your team to live Rivian’s mission.


Responsibilities

  • Product Line Assortment Strategy – Develop and curate product assortments that resonate with our adventurous community and drive significant revenue growth across e-commerce, retail stores, and third-party distribution channels.
  • Retail Buying & Planning – Lead store assortment planning, ensuring a consumer-first approach while maximizing sales and inventory efficiency. Develop assortment and inventory plans for all merchandise categories, in alignment with key business and financial goals, ensuring profitability. Buy merchandise assortments across multiple categories each season
  • Go-to-Market Leadership – Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for product launches, aligning with marketing, sales, and operations to ensure a seamless rollout.
  • Product Roadmap Execution – Develop assortment and inventory plans for all merchandise categories, in alignment with key business and financial goals, ensuring profitabilityMaintain and drive deliverables across the product lifecycle, ensuring key milestones and cross-functional alignment.
  • Growth & Revenue Strategy – Develop a long-term growth plan to expand revenue opportunities across all distribution channels.
  • Product Development & Vendor Management – Oversee product development timelines, vendor coordination, and sample/prototype approvals, ensuring on-time production readiness.
  • Inventory & Forecast Management – Own and manage forecasts for inventory planning, store allocations, and demand planning to optimize supply and sell-through. Develop assortment and inventory plans for all merchandise categories, in alignment with key business and financial goals, ensuring profitability
  • Strategic Partnerships & Licensing – Cultivate and execute 3rd party partnerships for exclusive product capsules, business development initiatives, and licensing collaborations.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership – Oversee communication and drive alignment across merchandising, marketing, sales, operations, and finance teams.
  • Team Leadership – Manage and mentor a team of retail buyers, planners, and visual merchandisers, fostering collaboration and high performance.
  • Financial & KPI Ownership – Drive financial performance and exceed key performance indicators (KPIs), contributing directly to the P&L and business growth.
  • Analysis - Report weekly/monthly/quarterly sales and merchandise performance results

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in product merchandising, buying, planning, or related retail fields.
  • 3+ years of experience managing teams, overseeing product strategy, and driving business outcomes. Proven track record of leadership and team management within retail, merchandising, and product planning environments. The ideal candidate has successfully built, led, and scaled high-performing merchandising or planning teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, merchandising, marketing, or a related field.
  • Strong background in retail, merchandising, product development, and vendor management.
  • Exceptional retail math skills with expertise in buying, planning, and inventory management.
  • Experience with Google Suite and/or Microsoft Suite for data analysis and reporting.
  • Extensive experience with BI tools, POS & CRM
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed
  • Experience creating scalable product merchandising, buying and planning best practices and playbooks. Proven ability to drive process improvements across all areas managed
  • Ability to analyze data and report out findings that are actionable by both business and technical teams
  • Proven track record for building and scaling merchandise assortments at retail and around a brand mission
  • Ability to translate high level brand values through compelling merchandise assortments
  • Analytical decision maker, able to drive top line and bottom line through data-driven decisions
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and proven track record of highly effective collaboration
  • A deep commitment to elevating the customer experience and drive to maximize all opportunities to over-deliver when it comes to delighting and interacting with our community

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range for California Based Applicants: $101,000 to $126,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time and part-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Full Time Employee coverage is effective on the first day of employment. Part-Time employee coverage is effective the first of the month following 90 days of employment."
