Role Summary

Rivian is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Accountant to play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our inventory accounting. In this role, you will be responsible for performing and overseeing the accounting for inventory and cost of sales, including reconciliations, journal entries, reporting, and process improvement. You will proactively implement solutions to ensure solid manufacturing processes and internal controls are in place, contributing directly to Rivian's mission of sustainable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Inventory Accounting: Perform procedures for tracking and reconciling vehicle production, inventory, and cost of sales for monthly financial and operational reporting.
  • Journal Entries: Prepare and post journal entries for inventory and cost of sales transactions, adjustments, and other related accounting entries in Blackline.
  • Reconciliations: Perform monthly reconciliations of inventory accounts to ensure accurate recording and identify any discrepancies.
  • Analysis and Reporting: Analyze, reconcile, and report inventory-related activity, providing insights to support decision-making.
  • Internal Controls: Maintain and strengthen internal controls over inventory accounting to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
  • Process Automation: Support the development of automation routines to efficiently capture, monitor, and account for various data flows.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with the operations and finance teams to provide reporting and analytics.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance accounting processes and implement best practices to achieve greater efficiency and accuracy.
  • Audit Support: Furnish information and support for internal and external audit purposes.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business, with a concentration in Accounting.
  • Experience: 4+ years of accounting work experience (Public or Private) with strong exposure to manufacturing and/or inventory accounting.
  • General Ledger Accounting: Comprehensive understanding of general ledger accounting principles and practices, including the preparation and posting of journal entries with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced Excel skills.
  • Analytical Skills: Analytical mind with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Constant desire to learn and challenge others to find the best solution.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Adaptability: Ability to be adaptable to change.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • SOX Experience: Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance requirements.
  • SAP Experience: Experience with SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Data Visualization: Experience with Alteryx or other data visualization tools.
