Role Summary
The Senior Manager, Production Security, plays a pivotal role in leading the Rivian Illinois factory Security Program, with the primary objective of safeguarding Rivian's personnel, assets, and information within the facility. This involves developing and implementing comprehensive security strategies and policies, managing the onsite Security Team, and providing strategic direction on the overall Security Program, strategy, and risk management initiatives. Furthermore, the role is responsible for overseeing daily security operations, managing physical security risks, ensuring full compliance with all relevant regulations, and cultivating a proactive, consultative, and service-oriented security culture.
Responsibilities
- Security Strategy & Policy: Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive security policies, standards, and procedures to protect personnel, physical assets, and proprietary information.
- Compliance Oversight: Ensure all security programs and operations strictly adhere to internal, local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
- Security Metrics (KPIs): Establish, track, and regularly report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Manufacturing Security.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct thorough security risk assessments and develop/execute effective mitigation strategies for physical and operational security vulnerabilities.
- Security Operations Management: Oversee all daily security activities, ensuring the implementation of industry best practices.
- Factory Security Posture: Continuously improve and modernize the security posture of the factory location.
- Incident Support: Provide support for internal investigations related to security-related incidents.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Provide guidance, mentorship, and leadership to all onsite security personnel.
- Contractor Management: Provide comprehensive oversight and management of the contracted security team.
- Talent Development: Shape the Factory Security Team through focused efforts to acquire, retain, develop, and mentor top talent.
- Internal & External Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to formulate effective security risk mitigation strategies.
- External Coordination: Develop and maintain professional relationships with relevant external agencies, including local law enforcement and emergency services.
- Security Awareness: Contribute to the development and delivery of facility-wide security awareness and training activities.
Qualifications

Security Expertise and Leadership:
Minimum of 7 years of experience in security management, including a proven track record of people management.
Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a comprehensive Security function, preferably at manufacturing facilities.
Strong knowledge of security best practices, regulatory compliance, and robust incident response procedures.
Experience with technical security systems, including access control, surveillance, and other security platforms.

Education and Professionalism:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience.
High degree of integrity and professionalism.
CPP, PSP, or equivalent professional certifications are considered a strong asset.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to cultivate a highly effective, service-oriented security culture.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Technical and Availability Requirements:
Proficiency in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office 365) or Google Suite programs (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as operational needs require.
Ability to travel domestically.
Pay Disclosure
Salary Range for Illinois Based Applicants: $131,200-$164,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law)M
Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
