Role Summary
We are looking for a Sr. Technical Program Manager who will drive the scaling of our Product Development AI and Data Science initiatives. The ideal candidate is capable of developing technical
roadmaps in close collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams working on programs at varying levels of maturity. They are adept at evaluating existing program management processes to identify opportunities for optimization and lead their execution.
The right candidate will be able to assess ambiguous problem spaces and collaborate with business, engineering, and data science partners to align on the right technical approaches and timelines needed to successfully deliver impactful solutions supporting company-wide and organizational priorities.
Responsibilities
- Program Roadmaps and Delivery: Manage complex dependencies between data science and AI projects and across cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution. Use roadmaps as inputs to inform broader planning including future headcount needs
- Ensure Business Value and Scope Control: Clearly define business requirements, timelines, and measurable results (KPIs) for all initiatives, acting as the primary point of contact for stakeholders to balance additional scope requests against available resources.
- Risk Management and Resolution: Proactively identify, track, and mitigate risks and issues that could impede program delivery, escalating critical barriers to leadership.
- Drive Team Planning and Prioritization: Establish and manage the intake process for new projects, ensuring they are properly scoped, prioritized, and aligned with the team's strategic roadmap before work begins, and facilitate the team’s quarterly and annual planning cycles, including the development and tracking of team OKRs.
- Develop and Standardize Processes: Identify opportunities and implement improvements to existing project management processes, standardizing how projects are initiated, tracked, and delivered as the team scales.
- Develop effective reporting: on progress to different audiences including stakeholders and leadership at varying cadences including weekly updates, monthly newsletters, and annual executive-level presentations.
- Technical Coordination and Cost Management: Coordinate needs from upstream data partners. Track and manage team’s spending on costs like software and cloud computing resources. Develop processes and standards to reduce costs in environments like Databricks and AWS.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master's degree in a quantitative, STEM, or business-oriented field
- 3-5 years of technical program management or relevant program/project management experience in technical environments, preferably in data science or software development use collaboration tools like Jira and Confluence
- Familiarity with approaches to using AI and machine learning applications to solve business and engineering problems
- Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams and leading cross-functional efforts
- A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques
NICE TO HAVE:
- MBA
- Experience working in some combination of electric vehicles, hardware engineering, or IoT
- Basic Python and SQL proficiency
Pay Disclosure
Salary Range for California Based Candidates: $132,100.00 - $165,100.00 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time and part-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Full Time Employee coverage is effective on the first day of employment.
