Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Battery Test and Validation Engineer II. In this role, you will be responsible for software validation tests of battery packs in vehicles and battery level functional checks during vehicle level testing. You will play a critical role in ensuring the performance, reliability, and safety of our battery systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of software validation principles and testing methodologies applied to battery system development.


Responsibilities

  • Execute software validation tests of battery packs in vehicles and battery level functional checks during vehicle level testing.
  • Operate and maintain battery testing equipment (e.g., battery cyclers, environmental chambers, data acquisition systems).
  • Analyze test data and generate detailed reports summarizing findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Develop and implement new test methodologies and automation scripts to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with software and systems engineering teams to provide feedback on battery performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of all test data, procedures, and reports.
  • Follow and enforce all lab safety protocols
  • Maintain a clean workspace
  • During peak validation periods expect up to 25% travel.

Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, or industrial technology, or closely related subject
  • 2 years of experience working with battery or Battery Management System (BMS) technologies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software and hardware validation testing
  • Demonstrated knowledge of battery test equipment, LabVIEW, and data acquisition systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data processing using Python
  • Experience with high voltage systems
  • Experience with communication protocols, CAN-FD and CAN over Ethernet
  • Knowledge of electrical safety standards and regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range for California Based Candidates: $77,800.00 - $97,300.00 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time and part-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Full Time Employee coverage is effective on the first day of employment.
