Job Description

About Rivian

Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.

As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.

Role Summary

Rivian is seeking a creative, action-oriented member of the Product Communications Team who will focus on touting our innovative technology including the AI, Autonomy, Hardware and Software that underpins all Rivian vehicles, and brings delightful features to owners. You will have excellent media relations skills, strong judgement and the ability to work with C-suite and VP-level leaders. Experience in creating proactive campaigns, and content development skills are crucial in addition to a love for software-defined technology and vehicles.

You will be passionate about Rivian, AI, autonomy, consumer technology, and an excellent problem solver and strategic thinker. A fast learner with the ability to focus on the details in an ambiguous environment will be crucial to success.

To be successful in this role, you must thrive in fast-paced, quickly-changing and unexpected environments, tackling challenges head-on with a flexible and solution-oriented mindset. You will know how to remove blockers and work cross-functionally to achieve alignment among internal stakeholders along with the ability to pivot quickly and often. You will report directly to the Senior Director of Product & Technology Communications.

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute proactive and reactive communications for Rivian’s AI and Autonomy stack, software features and technology, translating complex topics into compelling stories across earned, owned, community engagement and social channels.
  • Lead communications for Rivian’s strategic partners, navigating high-stakes integrations and co-marketing efforts across technology, infotainment and software sectors.
  • Use measurement tools to assess the impact of communications programs.
  • Serve as the strategic communications partner to the Chief Software Officer, SVP of Autonomy and SVP of Hardware, managing speaking engagements and crafting a distinct voice that positions them as leaders in the software-defined vehicle space.
  • Establish programmatic approaches for an ongoing cadence of external moments to support continuous storytelling.
  • The ideal candidate will continue to extend and deepen Rivian’s relationships beyond traditional tech media and find new storytelling methods to include new platforms, verticals, and creators.
  • Work closely with our Autonomy, Engineering, Hardware, Product and Software leads to ensure an integrated approach where activity and messaging is fully aligned.

Qualifications

  • 7-9 years of communications experience with a proven track record in autonomy, software, consumer technology or a similar field, and an understanding of the larger mobility industry.
  • Persuasive writer with ability to distill technical topics into understandable storytelling.
  • Deeply passionate and optimistic about technology development and the fast-paced connected future.
  • Organizational expert with ability to track multiple features, software releases, and create company-wide resources and sources of truth in a fast-paced environment. Adapts easily to fluctuation.
  • Ability to work with technical teams, ask the right questions and make the work legible to non-technical audiences.
  • Communicator who bridges the gap between Rivian’s hardware lab and software development by translating complex ecosystems including zonal architecture and the full autonomy and software stack into compelling narratives.
  • Ability to drive a big picture strategy and manage day-to-day business needs, while working independently and effectively within the Rivian system.
  • Established relationships with key members of tech and mainstream media with a demonstrated ability to move beyond traditional beats into new creator-led verticals.
  • A resilient problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment and can build consensus across Autonomy, Hardware, Software and Product teams.
  • Strong team-oriented mindset with the ability to spot opportunities for efficiency and cross-functional collaboration.
