Scope3 has significant market traction with more than 70+ customers and is experiencing accelerated growth.
Scope3 is a fully remote company and largely asynchronous to provide flexible working hours and to operate globally, with concentrations in New York and Europe. At this time, we are hiring in Canada, Australia, UK, France, Germany, and the United States.
About The Role
Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant will play a pivotal role in maintaining accurate financial statements and ensuring compliance with accounting principles. This individual will collaborate with key partners across the company to drive process improvements and support our financial operations.
For this position, we are looking to hire in the US, specifically located within Eastern Standard Time to optimize for global collaboration.
Key responsibilities:
- Oversee and ensure the integrity of transactions throughout the accounting cycle
- Plan and perform monthly and quarterly close activities, including preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analyses and analytical reviews
- Research and review transactions and provide necessary analyses
- Assist with financial statements and tax audits; lead and assist in preparing audit schedules, providing data to auditors, coordinating with auditors and responding to their queries
- Work closely with FP&A to enhance reliability and accuracy of forecasts and reports
- Assist with developing, documenting, implementing, and maintaining streamlined process improvements, accounting policies, controls, and procedures as needed
- Ad hoc accounting requests and projects as needed
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; active CPA license
- 4-6+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and US tax regulations
- Strong technical accounting skills with experience in month-end close, reconciliations and audit preparation
- Strong analytical skills and high level of comfort working with large data sets
- Superior attention to detail and ability to successfully work on multiple concurrent projects and manage competing priorities
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively across all levels of the organization
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal & written communication skills
- Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with accounting software and programs
Preference May Be Given To Candidates With The Following:
- Prior experience in the advertising technology or internet industries
- Experience contributing to technical accounting memos including revenue recognition
- Experience with Wayfair ruling tax matters
- Experience working remotely in globally distributed startup environments
