Engineering Graduate Internship Program
Shift EV
About us:
Shift EV is a fast-growing electric vehicle technology company, based in Cairo, Egypt. Our vision is to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in Egypt and the region by developing state-of-the-art electric drivetrain solutions. You will work with world-class technology veterans from MIT, the University of Grenoble, Intel, and Corning to build a venture with transformative potential.
Are you passionate about shaping the future of electric vehicles? Shift EV is launching its Engineering Internship Program, designed to give ambitious freshers hands-on experience in cutting-edge automotive electrification.
We’re offering three focused tracks. Each intern will work closely with our engineering team on real challenges that impact our product roadmap and core technologies.
🌟 Available Internship Tracks:
1. Vehicle Control Unit – Model-Based Development
Department: Embedded Systems / Controls Engineering
Key Focus:
You will work on the development and validation of control algorithms for our Vehicle Control Unit (VCU), using model-based design (MBD) tools such as Simulink and MATLAB.
Exposure Includes:
Designing and simulating vehicle functions (e.g., torque control, drive modes).
Working within an automotive-grade software development process.
Understanding signal processing and sensor integration.
Testing models on real ECUs and potentially in-vehicle environments.
2. Mechanical Drawings Engineer
Department: Mechanical Design / CAD
Key Focus:
You will support the development of 2D and 3D mechanical drawings for parts and assemblies in our electric vehicle conversions, using tools such as SolidWorks or CATIA.
Exposure Includes:
Creating production-ready mechanical drawings with proper tolerances and standards.
Working closely with design engineers and the manufacturing team.
Understanding design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) principles.
Participating in design reviews and release processes.
3. Electric Drivetrain Modelling
Department: Powertrain / Systems Engineering
Key Focus:
You will model and simulate the electric drivetrain (motors, inverters, gearboxes) to support system sizing, performance prediction, and efficiency optimization.
Exposure Includes:
Building and running simulation models (MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent).
Analyzing motor performance curves and efficiency maps.
Supporting integration between motor, battery, and control systems.
Contributing to vehicle-level performance and energy consumption analysis.
