About Every Electric

Every Electric (www.everyelectric.com) is an early-stage grid technology company building distributed energy storage to make electricity more affordable and reliable. We operate New York City’s largest indoor residential battery virtual power plant in partnership with Con Edison, aggregating residential battery storage to deliver demand response and grid flexibility services. Plug-in HVAC accounts for roughly 20% of Con Edison’s peak capacity — 2.5 GW of load — and our mission is to make that load flexible by putting a battery in every home.

We are backed by NYSERDA, Activate, and Breakthrough Energy, and our work has been featured in Canary Media, CBS New York, and AP News. We are headquartered in Brooklyn, New York.

The Role

As an Operations Engineer at Every Electric, you will own the operational systems that connect our customers, our utility partners, and our battery fleet by building automation rather than scaling headcount. You will be responsible for designing and operating the workflows, tooling, and AI-driven automation that allow a small team to manage a growing fleet and customer base efficiently.

As our first dedicated operations hire, you will have substantial ownership over how the operations function is built. You will define the playbooks, build the automation, and own the systems that turn manual processes into repeatable, scalable workflows. This role combines hands-on technical work with direct responsibility for customer, building, and utility relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Operations automation: Build and maintain AI-driven automation and lightweight tooling for core operational workflows, including customer outreach, status tracking, reporting, document handling, and internal coordination. This is the central focus of the role.
  • Customer operations: Own the recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing support of residential customers enrolled in our virtual power plant, from first contact through enrollment and dispatch events.
  • Building partnerships: Manage relationships with New York City building management companies, condo and co-op boards, and tenant organizations to enable multi-unit deployments.
  • Utility coordination: Support the end-to-end relationship with Con Edison and other utility partners, including program enrollment, event participation, and issue resolution.
  • Process design: Translate ad-hoc operational requirements into documented, automated, and repeatable systems as the company scales.

Requirements

  • Experience: 1–3 years of professional experience in an operations, program management, or technical operations role.
  • Technical ability: A degree in engineering, computer science, industrial or operations engineering, or a related technical field, and demonstrated ability to build automation using scripting and modern tools.
  • AI and automation proficiency: Hands-on experience using and building AI workflows and automation (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, automation platforms, scripting) to eliminate manual work.
  • Organization: Strong organizational discipline and the ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams without loss of accuracy.
  • Communication: Professional communication skills sufficient to represent the company to customers, building managers, and utility partners.
  • Domain interest: Interest in energy systems, grid modernization, and decarbonization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience at an energy, climate, real estate, or proptech company.
  • Familiarity with NYC multifamily housing, co-op or condo governance, or building management workflows.
  • Familiarity with utility demand response programs, Con Edison, or NYSERDA incentive programs.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary of $90,000–$120,000, plus equity and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) plan, and a flexible leave policy. Every Electric is an equal opportunity employer.
