What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a Project Engineer (m/f/d) to join our growing European project delivery team in Berlin. This role combines hands-on technical project engineering with project coordination and customer communication for utility-scale renewable energy projects.
You will work on BESS, hybrid PV+BESS, and EMS projects — supporting system configuration, documentation, commissioning preparation, and customer-facing coordination alongside senior engineers and project managers. Over time, you will take on increasing ownership of projects and client relationships.
This is an ideal role for someone with a few years of experience in renewable energy, SCADA, EMS, electrical engineering, or automation who wants to grow into a senior project delivery role in a fast-moving clean energy company.
What You Will Do
- Support and execute project delivery for utility-scale EMS, BESS, and hybrid PV+BESS projects across Europe under the guidance of senior project engineers and managers.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation including communication circuit diagrams, network topologies, interface specifications, and configuration sheets.
- Support the design and documentation of communication network architectures — including VLAN configurations, managed switch parameterization, and fiber optic connectivity plans — under guidance of senior engineers.
- Assist in cybersecurity and firewall configuration tasks for plant OT networks — including basic firewall rule review, VPN/remote access setup, and documentation of network security measures in line with project security requirements.
- Configure monitoring, SCADA, and EMS platforms (PowerTrack, Edge EMS, Edge UI / HMI) according to project-specific requirements and engineering specifications.
- Support EMS configuration and PPC parameter setup — including signal mapping, setpoint configuration, reactive power curves, and energy management profiles — working from engineering specifications in coordination with senior engineers and optimizer partners.
- Coordinate with internal teams (engineering, product, support) and external stakeholders (customers, EPCs) to track project progress, resolve open items, and maintain delivery timelines.
- Support commissioning activities — including pre-commissioning checks, communication testing, signal verification, and system validation — on-site or remotely.
- Review and verify hardware and software specifications, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and applicable grid connection standards — including European grid codes (VDE, ENTSO-E RfG) and, where relevant, requirements from non-European markets.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of project delivery templates, processes, and engineering standards.
- Participate in technical discussions with customers and partners, building your expertise and client-facing confidence.
- Collaborate daily with the Delhi-based engineering team and regularly with U.S.-based product and platform teams to coordinate documentation, configuration, and technical support tasks across time zones.
- Support technical pre-sales activities as needed, including data gathering, site assessments, and scope reviews.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Automation, Power Systems, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of professional experience in renewable energy, SCADA, EMS, power systems, or a related technical project delivery environment.
- Basic to solid understanding of communication protocols (Modbus, IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, DNP3) and network architectures for industrial or energy applications, including foundational knowledge of VLANs, managed switches, and network segmentation concepts for OT environments.
- Familiarity with monitoring platforms, SCADA systems, or energy management systems — hands-on configuration experience is a strong plus.
- Experience creating or reviewing technical documentation such as communication diagrams, wiring plans, or system specifications.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design tools for electrical or communication documentation.
- Good organizational skills and ability to manage tasks across multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in German and English (written and spoken).
- Curiosity, willingness to learn, and a collaborative mindset — you are comfortable asking questions and growing your skills in a supportive team.
- Willingness to travel within Europe for commissioning and customer meetings (approx. 10–15%).
What You Will Get
- An international, growing company at the forefront of the global energy transition.
- Flat hierarchies and short decision paths — real responsibility from day one, with room to grow.
- A team-oriented, appreciative culture with mentoring from experienced senior engineers.
- Berlin office location with a modern, collaborative working environment.
- Subsidized UrbanSports subscription and BVG public transit ticket.
- Company benefits including exclusive discounts on technology, dining, travel, and more.
- Competitive salary, bonus plan
