Job Mission
Terraformation is hiring a Controller to serve as the accounting leader on the Finance Team. The Controller will closely manage all monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting processes and financial reporting, allowing Terraformation to push forward in its mission to rapidly restore native forests to reverse climate change. This critical role requires extensive collaboration with senior leadership, operational teams, and external parties to help expand our financial accounting as we continue to grow our projects worldwide.
Location: Remote; United States
Salary: $130,000 - $150,000, plus equity (depending on location and experience)
Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting transaction cycles, treasury, general ledger, account reconciliations, and close processes, while closely monitoring for opportunities to leverage automation.
- Monitor and report on flow of funds and operational activity for a portfolio of international reforestation projects, working in close partnership with cross functional teams to help promote project success
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and internal financial reports, while ensuring GAAP compliance and providing visibility into operational activity.
- Present data-driven financial analysis to executive leadership and actively engage in strategic conversations to empower decision-making.
- Manage and improve efficiency of the annual budget process, monthly variance analysis reporting, and cash flow forecasting.
- Research, analyze, and communicate relevant GAAP application and regulatory requirements, including but not limited to carbon markets and governmental grants.
- Lead the external audit process, compile data for periodic investor requests, and assist with other financial reporting and informational needs across domestic and international operations.
- Recruit, manage, and mentor accounting and finance team members while promoting continuous improvement in a dynamic environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role
- CPA qualification
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to manage and mentor team members
- Comfortable working with remote teams across international environments
- Startup experience preferred
- Proficiency in Mandarin is highly preferred
