What You’ll Do

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Transaera, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design and development of mechanical components and systems, translating concepts into manufacturable products. This is a hands-on individual contributor (IC) role with mentoring responsibilities and a focus on establishing efficient design and manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Development: Use SolidWorks to create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings for components, ensuring compliance with company standards and industry requirements.
  • Requirements to Production: Define design requirements and specifications, generate detailed engineering drawings, and oversee the manufacturing process from prototype to production.
  • Process Optimization: Develop and establish design workflows, best practices, and quality standards to streamline product development and ensure manufacturability.
  • Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T): Apply GD&T principles to designs, ensuring precision, functionality, and compatibility of parts during assembly.
  • Sheet Metal Fabrication: Design components with a focus on sheet metal fabrication processes, optimizing for cost, performance, and manufacturability.
  • Quality Control (QC): Collaborate with QC teams to develop and implement inspection criteria, ensuring all products meet engineering and manufacturing standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, supply chain, and quality assurance, to resolve technical challenges and drive project success.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentoring to other engineers to develop their technical and professional skills.

What You’ll Bring

Required Skills And Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of mechanical design experience, ideally in HVAC or industrial systems, or a related industry.

Skills

  • Proficient in SolidWorks
  • Familiarity with PDM and PLM software for organizing complex multi-user design efforts in conjunction with manufacturing partners.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T principles and their application in manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience with sheet metal fabrication processes.
  • Proven track record of designing for manufacturability and collaborating with internal and external manufacturing teams.

Preferred But Not Required

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Knowledge of commercial HVAC systems.
  • Experience with motors, fans and other active driven components.
