Quality Assurance
Geneva, Switzerland
Posted on Dec 17, 2024
Founded in 2019, Transmutex aim to reinvent nuclear energy/medicine/waste recycling by using an accelerator-driven system (ADS) to optimize the transmutation of long-lived nuclear waste. The innovative combination of particle accelerators and Thorium fuel based on existing long-lived radioactive waste allows to generate energy intrinsically safe and recycle the stockpile of long-lived waste in a proliferation-resistant way.
We are seeking a Quality Assurance (QA) Officer to join our fast growing startup. As a QA Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality standards are maintained across all aspects of our operations, from design and manufacturing to regulatory compliance and project execution. This role requires a balance of technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and a commitment to fostering a culture of quality in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities

- Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s QMS in alignment with ISO 9001, ASME NQA-1, and other applicable standards.
- Conduct regular reviews and updates of quality policies and procedures to meet evolving project and regulatory requirements.
- Manage documentation control systems to ensure consistency and traceability.
Process Quality Monitoring
-Develop and implement inspection plans for critical components such as ion source, reactor internals, and other ADS-specific systems.
-Oversee incoming material inspections and vendor qualification to ensure supply chain quality.
-Monitor the performance of key processes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Audit and Risk Management
-Plan and conduct internal audits to verify compliance with QMS and operational procedures.
-Identify, assess, and document risks related to project execution and propose mitigation strategies.
-Lead root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for non-conformances.
-Develop and manage supplier quality assurance programs, including audits, performance evaluations, and corrective actions.
Requirements
The candidates we are looking for must have:
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in QA/QC, preferably in nuclear, aerospace, or a high-tech industrial sector.
- Familiarity with quality standards like ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or nuclear-specific standards like ASME NQA-1.
- Knowledge of manufacturing and testing processes for complex systems.
- Proficiency with QA tools such as FMEA, root cause analysis, and statistical process control (SPC).
- Experience with design validation, failure testing, and risk management in engineering systems.
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
Additionally, it will be an advantage if you have:
- Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work across multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
- Leadership and initiative to drive quality culture in a startup environment.
- Understanding of nuclear safety and radiation protection principles.
