Senior Buyer

The Job

We’re looking for someone who is a self-starter that is accustomed to creating necessary process and procedure to improve efficiency in the Purchasing department. You enjoy being creative in your methodology and are excited to source new options.

You are a leader - you evaluate the competency and capacity of your team and compare it to what is required to meet our objectives. You then create and implement a strategy to close any gaps and look to create and implement strategies for continuous improvement. You exhibit servant leadership, growing nurturing, and providing support to each member in the team so that they can deliver on program goals and are enabled to reach their own aspirations.

As the Senior Buyer, you are responsible for managing our supplier base to ensure we are achieving reduced lead times, appropriate inventory in all warehouses, and new product needs.

NOTE: This is NOT a remote position where qualified candidate will be required to work onsite at minimum 80% of the time in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the management of inventory levels at multiple domestic and internationally located warehouses.
  • Effectively evaluate historical sales data to determine safety stock levels and additional purchasing needs.
  • Continually evaluate and maintain safety stock levels using a documented process.
  • Lead demand planning meetings with customers and various sales associates.
  • Lead and train end users on internal procurement processes and procedures.
  • Manage relationships with key suppliers, resolve supplier issues and optimize suppliers' performance or recommend alternative sourcing.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships and communications with customers to achieve effective and efficient purchasing operations.
  • Partner with Product Team to source new products.
  • Evaluate current MRP and implement necessary changes.
  • Develop and present inventory turns metrics.
  • Negotiate and implement supplier contracts with approval.
  • Perform make vs buy cost analysis of products.
  • Research and forecast current buying trends, markets and products with attention to commodity products for our e-commerce channels.
  • Recommend improvements to procurement processes and procedures.
  • Manage the local Purchasing team.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a business-related field.
  • 5-7 years of work experience in a procurement-related position, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years of experience in an international procurement environment.
  • Experience sourcing commodity products
  • Proven track record showing the ability to analyze data and make independent decisions.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Critical thinking and the ability to trailblaze new processes.
  • Experience with engineered drawings.
  • Experience managing and driving projects.
  • Experience with ERP systems, NetSuite a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
